Junk Emails Suddenly going to Inbox Feb 2023

Hi, I had my hotmail account for over 20 years and I never had an issue like this. As of this morning at 4am ALL of my junk emails are going to my inbox. No settings have been amended.

Since I've had this account for many years every 5 minutes I receive a junk in my inbox. Ive searched for a solution online but all I can see is for outlook and not outlook/hotmail 365. I've tried everything at this point, from rules to flagging wit no help. Has anyone experienced the same? Microsoft doesnt seem to have a customer service team to help?

Many thanks

Same issue as the others. had my account for years. now getting spam flooding onto my inbox.

phone company cannot help due to the fact it is not their issue. Appears only option is that I Will have to delete my account.

Same thing happened to me since 1:15am EST on 2/20/23 - tons of junk mail in my inbox. But there's still tons of junkmail going into my junk mailbox, too. Something is definitely wrong. Over 500 of us have tagged it as "I'm having the same issue" in the past few hours.

Maybe related, back in October a lot of emails from contacts started going into junk mail; no matter what I do to tag those addresses as safe senders, it has kept happening. So screening my junk mail has now become a time wasting task each day. I've been on hotmail forever, I guess this is truly the sign that it's time to change emails and get used to gmail . . .

I am experiencing the same issue. I could have written this post. I’ve had the same email for 25 years.

    Ugh.

If so many of us have the same issues, I hope they’re working on it.

    This is not the problem.

I THINK I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM!

I have spotted the detail thats causing it to go into Inbox rather than Junk.

Outlook naturally puts into Junk the emails where the Recipient Emails blank. This has been happening for a while (its super annoying because it fills up my junk and I can’t find emails that should have come to my inbox. I wish they would block emails with a blank recipient!)

BUT what has started happening this week, is if the Recipient email is blank AND the Sender contains “Newsletter@“. So Newsletter seems to be the magic word that allows it into the Inbox.

So if Microsoft could just do a blanket blockade of anything with a blank Recipient, this will completely fix all of my woes.

Im convinced this is the problem, so please support this post so that Microsoft investigates.

    Thanks
