My Cursor Keeps Turning White in Microsoft Word Without Typing

My cursor keeps turning white in Microsoft Word 2016 (I bought lifetime access), even without typing. I already tried changing the cursor settings so that it wouldn't disappear when typing, but that didn't do anything. After a few seconds the text selection cursor will turn white, and, if I hover over dark text, I can see the cursor outline. This has been happening in multiple documents, so not an isolated incident.

This started after a Microsoft update which forced me to log back into my Microsoft account to use Word about a week or two ago. I've tried everything I can find on the internet, but no luck yet. It's very hard to get work done if I can't see my cursor in Word, so what do I need to do to fix this issue so I can get back to work?

It was bugging me to much so I dug a little deeper. Since changing driver settings didn't do a lot, I went in and checked Windows settings. I found a solution for now.

Go to System Properties*, tab Advanced. Choose the Performance Settings. In here you can toggle Visual Settings of Windows. Uncheck "Animate controls and elements inside windows". Done.

*Windows changed the way to get to the properties in Win11.

    • For Windows 10: Right click This Computer > Properties.
    • For Windows 11 option 1: Right click This Computer > More Options > Properties > Right next to Related links is "Advanced system settings" bringing you directly to the tab Advanced.
    • For Windows 11 option 2: Go to settings > (tab System is already selected) > scroll down to About > Right next to Related links is "Advanced system settings" bringing you directly to the tab Advanced.

Same problem here. Cursor turns white when hovering over lettes and that delays me very much in my work because you cannot see with clarity where exactly it is. It turns black as it sould after a few seconds but its too frustrating and time wasting. Because i lose these few seconds every few seconds.

I am facing the same problem, and have spent 10 hours.
