My Cursor Keeps Turning White in Microsoft Word Without Typing

My cursor keeps turning white in Microsoft Word 2016 (I bought lifetime access), even without typing. I already tried changing the cursor settings so that it wouldn't disappear when typing, but that didn't do anything. After a few seconds the text selection cursor will turn white, and, if I hover over dark text, I can see the cursor outline. This has been happening in multiple documents, so not an isolated incident.

This started after a Microsoft update which forced me to log back into my Microsoft account to use Word about a week or two ago. I've tried everything I can find on the internet, but no luck yet. It's very hard to get work done if I can't see my cursor in Word, so what do I need to do to fix this issue so I can get back to work?

It's definitely an AMD compatibility issue, but nothing here has worked for me. Everything breaks again within the day after trying it.

Alright... Shortly after it now goes back to white. And that gimmick no longer works. Huh!?

I have experienced this issue starting at August, but I think I may have had similar symptoms a month or two beforehand. For some reason, at first, the outline seemed thinner and the white seemed bolder (I don't know how else to describe it). Interestingly, this was from not updating my Windows 10 for over a year. After updating, it seemed fine. August rolled around and my cursor turns white, as the problem is. However, this problem only happens ONLY ON YOUTUBE. I may rarely get it on the URL blank, but every other time is when I hover over text on a YouTube webpage on Chrome. I thought it was a Chrome update issue specifically (since I'm running version 86), but it would not have made sense for a browser having the ability to change your cursor at all. I read through all of this to find a solution, and I found turning the "Display Pointer Trails" on and off to semi-work. While the issue still happens, it turns black once the cursor stops, and stays black for a bit. If I don't hover text for a certain time, the cycle repeats. I might test this to see how long this would last, but I feel the anguish this thread is facing. I have a AMD Ryzen 5, so it definitely could be a AMD issue. Wish I could share more.

Hasn't helped me. Still looking for a solution after trying everything mentioned here. This just needs a fix from Microsoft - they are apparently aware of it according to someone who posted here earlier, but nothing has been patched yet from what I can see.

Hi, BobvE. this is a really helpful metod, which I have tried about three months ago. How ever when using the uptodate Edge or chrome, the cursor will disappared for a short time aroud the URL blank. So I turn to modify the registration.

You may try my methd shown in previous posts, which work perfectly on my laptop.
