Microsoft has blocked macros from running

Hello All,

you might know that " Microsoft has blocked Macros from running through internet" do we have any permanent solution on this?

I have tried the below solution which doesn't work.

  1. Save the file to a local hard drive, network share, or cloud share like OneDrive.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved the file.
  3. Right-click the file and choose Properties from the context menu.
  4. At the bottom of the General tab, you should see a section for Security. Select the Unblock checkbox and select OK.

Also, tried to enable Macros through Macros settings through Trust center but didn't work?

is there any permanent solution on this?

Hi,

I think I found a solution to my problem.

The solution is to re-map the network drive to the fileserver name first and then adding that mapped directory to the trusted locations in excel.

Mapped Location:

\fileserver\networkdirectory and not \[192.xxx.xxx.xxx]\networkdirectory

Hope it helps someone out there.

    And yes, Microsoft must hate us users as this "update" of theirs cost me half a day trying to fix, as the "learn more" option did not apply to my version of Office. This time suck made me miss an important deadline and my client wasn't impressed with my blaming it on Microsoft. Microsoft should test out their updates before burdening us users with their nonsense.

    Same problem with Word and this was my fix. Open the app, file, options, Trust Center, Macro settings, enable all macros. ok. May require a system restart. Good luck!

    I have this same problem, which just began on September 15, 2022, when I open an Excel file embedded in a OneNote page.

    Why did this problem suddenly start? Does Microsoft hate us?

    And is there a simple solution, without any technical jargon?
