I have M365 Family and a domain name not on GoDaddy

I can confirm that the mxRecordValue from the URL is the correct number you would enter as part of the MX and TXT records mentioned.

Things that might prevent Outlook from completing setup of your domain within Outlook premium setting could be a competing MX record with same or higher priority value. Another thing is the attempted use of a subdomain, when entering it in the domain validation prompt and in the MX record.

I think I had the same issue as you. Setup the domain records with your registrar and wait a couple of records. Disconnect your domain and then try to setup your existing domain. It should work fairly quickly.

I see your domain table is different for your registrar. It looks like name, TTL, type, value? I am not sure that you need the domain connect CNAME record, though, perhaps MS looks for it when it tries to set it.

I am not sure what "IN" represents for your registrar.

It looks like you have an extra "1" in your MX type record.

Should you use an "@" for the blank name of your MX and TXT?

I did get mine working with the help of my registrar. I just showed him what my throw away GoDaddy domain records were.

I'd be interested in doing the same thing - however google domains - which is what I am currently using as a registrar - won't even accept any name starting with an underscore so I wouldn't be able to set up the records in this way. I'm sure GoDaddy is paying Microsoft handsomly for the exclusivity. Might have to try to find another family email/calendar solution besides Family 365 because of this.

I'm trying the same thing, also on Microsoft 365 Family.

I have not been able to add my own domain outside of GoDaddy in the way described.

I'll try again & I will write how it turned out.

But it looks like there's probably something else missing in the DNS, or MS has introduced some additional check.

The entry for DMARC is strange, because it is clearly stated in Microsoft 365 Family that it does not support DMARC or DKIM. It seems to me that what is listed is not functional for Microsoft 365 Family and it is misleading information.

Or does it work for Microsoft 365 Family for anyone ?

Does anyone have a functional custom domain for Microsoft 365 Family without GoDaddy being the registrar ?
