I have M365 Family and a domain name not on GoDaddy

Confirmed.

I'm trying the same thing, also on Microsoft 365 Family.

I have not been able to add my own domain outside of GoDaddy in the way described.

I'll try again & I will write how it turned out.

But it looks like there's probably something else missing in the DNS, or MS has introduced some additional check.

The entry for DMARC is strange, because it is clearly stated in Microsoft 365 Family that it does not support DMARC or DKIM. It seems to me that what is listed is not functional for Microsoft 365 Family and it is misleading information.

Or does it work for Microsoft 365 Family for anyone ?

Does anyone have a functional custom domain for Microsoft 365 Family without GoDaddy being the registrar ?

I have checked by sending email from my domain to my Gmail acccount. It does appear appear to pass ARC and SPF.

Authentication-Results: mx.google.com;
       arc=pass (i=1);
       spf=pass (google.com: domain of ******@mydomain.net designates 2a01:111:f400:7e8a::81a as permitted sender

In fact, it looks like the domain entries setup SPF in a TXT record.

I'm using a M365 family subscription.

When I setup "personalised email" with the temporary godaddy domain, the address/domain is live in seconds. (aka step i).

When I use my preferred non-godaddy-registered domain (step j). it says Your domain blechblah.com.au is still being configured. This can take up to 24hours, now I've waited 6 hours. It hasn't come up yet. Maybe there is something in the handshake or interaction with domaincontrol.com or the domaincontrol protocol is required?

I'll wait for the 24hours and update this comment.

PS: gd.domaincontrol.com is a godaddy domain.

In the half-configured state, I can successfully email from ******@outlook.com to ******@blechblah.com.au, but can't successfully send from gmail. I get a bounce with:

550 5.1.1 <******@blechblah.com.au>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table

-> @Derek_007: have you tried what you write here yourself on the same product, i.e. Microsoft 365 Family, and does it work for you ?

Or have you just read it elsewhere and copied it here ?
