How to disable OneDrive "On this day" "Memories" whatever MS calls it now

I also have "On This Day" turned off, because it's not possible to Exempt/Omit selected folders from what it shows. Who on Earth wants old relationship photos (however nice!) from recurring and constantly reminding everyone of previous relationships? You can't even move photos into archive locations outside of the /My Pictures/ directory, because OneDrive still finds them. So the only option is to turn off On This Day, which is a shame, because I do in general like the feature. It just needs some extra settings and controls to make it suitable for real-life humans to use.

For this any many other reasons, many users HAVE found out how to turn off On This Day. The Microsoft Feedback Hub's thread on the ability to turn it off is one of the most popular ones regarding OneDrive.

So Microsoft's response is to recreate the same feature, and call it "For You". Now, "For You" regurgitates historical photos without any controls over which ones it shows. Except that there's no setting to turn off "For You". And it also... it's like an app getting angry revenge... now it also appears in the Notifications Bar as well as on the web front end for OneDrive.

The only Notification Bar settings are to "Turn Off Notifications from One Drive" - but I want the other notifications. Just not "For You" ones. Or "On This Day". Or whatever Microsoft calls this horrendously insensitive feature next year.

I'm having the same issue and cannot find in Windows 11 where / how this notification is generating. I have turned off every instance I can find of these stupid "memories" (which absolutely should be opt-in, not opt-out. What psychotic executive believes everyone in the world has nothing but bland, happy photos they want to be constantly reminded of?).

It's amazing to me that two "volunteer moderators" have responded to this question with absolutely nothing useful to contribute. Where's the assistance here, folks? Where are the follow-up questions from these moderators so they can figure this out?

Agreed. That is why I came to find this thread as well. The new "For You" section on OneDrive Online is a huge waste of real estate. Microsoft please give us the option to turn this off or revert back to the way it was before. Or add it as a link to the items on the left hand pane. Just get it out of the way of "My Files".

Memories also tries to block your view when you click on My Files in OneDrive Online. The upper third of my screen is filled with something I have absolute no interest of having there. How stupid. I wonder what kind of people support these ideas. And the stuff you are looking for - the folders in My Files - are allmost hidden down below.

I got one of these time-wasting distraction popups today on Windows 11 running the OneDrive Personal that comes with my Office subscription. I have had the web email option specific to "memories" turned off for more than a year, I think.

When you click the OneDrive status icon and open its Settings, in the "Settings" tab there is an option "When OneDrive suggests a new collection of my photos and videos" which was on and which I have now turned off. Seems potentially related to "memories" for which there is no clear desktop control.

(I do not want to turn off all notifications for OneDrive. Some are relevant to its proper functioning.)
