How to disable OneDrive "On this day" "Memories" whatever MS calls it now

I can't find any options in the settings for OneDrive to get it to stop sending me reminders of the past "On this day" or "Memories". Is it even possible to turn this feature off?

Update: I found in the actual OneDrive website an option under settings called "On this day memories are available" that is already disabled. What I'm experiencing now is not emails, but popups in the bottom right corner of my screen, so no emails but now these popup notifications that seem to be coming from the operating system.

    I've never been so motivated to post to a thread like this, but this really needs to be disabled. I was working and suddenly, a very traumatic photo popped up. I went to look to see how to disable this, and I was shocked to see that it cannot. Some people do not want to erase their past and want to keep this information saved, but they don't want to be assaulted by it randomly when they are working. This really should be fixed. It is really terrible.

    I got one of these time-wasting distraction popups today on Windows 11 running the OneDrive Personal that comes with my Office subscription. I have had the web email option specific to "memories" turned off for more than a year, I think.

    When you click the OneDrive status icon and open its Settings, in the "Settings" tab there is an option "When OneDrive suggests a new collection of my photos and videos" which was on and which I have now turned off. Seems potentially related to "memories" for which there is no clear desktop control.

    (I do not want to turn off all notifications for OneDrive. Some are relevant to its proper functioning.)

    As if this was not enough, all the pictures I have sent to "personal vault" are available at this new "For you" section. The path os those pictures seems to be the original folder, before I moved them to the Vault....

    Hi Don,

    Yes I have verified that option is unchecked and has been saved. I think restarting my computer is what started this. It seems I received a recent update, and restarted my computer (and have restarted a few more times in the last day). This is when I started to have this issue. I also opened a support ticket with the OneDrive team (I pay a monthly fee for OneDrive so I figured I would use the support channel too). I am waiting for a response from them and can share anything I learn from them.

    I'm right there with you. I just followed the link above and posted about it. I can only assume the entire thing is run by "kids" that don't have a history to worry about. I'm 50 and have over 20 years of photos. Some are things needed for litigation, for proof of wrongdoings by others. Others are embarrassing, painful, and more but are still saved for archival or other reasons. I feel like I have to remove all but my "happy" memories that I've saved for whatever reason elsewhere but that defeats the entire purpose. If this don't at least find a way to disable this soon I'm going to have to move my pics elsewhere. With over 20 years-worth and with time as both a professional and hobbyist photographer, saving both jpeg and DNG images, the space I'm paying for isn't small.
