MacOS: Microsoft Word not displaying pasted Microsoft Excel Worksheet Objects

I'm running Word version 16.56 and Microsoft Excel Worksheet Objects is not displaying at all either in old .docx files which contained them or when I try to paste it into new files it simply beachballs. FWIW I am running Excel version 16.54.

Is this a known bug?

I chose the 'Current channel (preview)' box and then checked the update automatically boxes and it automatically updated to the 16.57 version of Word. That solved the problem with the embedded excel table.

    Message from another mortal! This is what I learned today:

    Within Word, go to Help

    In Help, you can see "Check for Updates", click that.

    Then you'll see "Advanced" , click that

    Then you can see Update Channel with three options, Current Channel, Current Channel (Preview) and Beta Channel.

    Thanks to all of you.

    I uninstalled Word and did as you instructed to install Word 16.55, and now my Microsoft Excel Worksheet is working fine.
    I also deactivated automatic updates, so I hope Microsoft notifies us when this issue is solved, to maintain updated my Office 365.
