MacOS: Microsoft Word not displaying pasted Microsoft Excel Worksheet Objects

I'm running Word version 16.56 and Microsoft Excel Worksheet Objects is not displaying at all either in old .docx files which contained them or when I try to paste it into new files it simply beachballs. FWIW I am running Excel version 16.54.

Is this a known bug?

I chose the 'Current channel (preview)' box and then checked the update automatically boxes and it automatically updated to the 16.57 version of Word. That solved the problem with the embedded excel table.

    It's great that you've found the problem - let's all hope you can the solution quickly. It is a pretty major bug.

    To be pedantic, the Paste Special option to paste as Microsoft Office Graphic Object does not exist. The option is paste as Microsoft Office Worksheet Object. And in any event this is the function that does not work.

    Hi StevenSpierenburg,

     

    I believe you are using the App Store version of Office, and this could be the reason Give Feedback option is not available. This option is available in Office apps installed from Microsoft account (https://www.office.com/)

     

    I understand your experience with Word for mac is not very good, in this forum, we try our best to help our customers. As you can’t turn off the auto-updates because of policy settings, I believe the only option here is to wait for the fixed version to be released. 

     

    Apart from this, if you have any issues related to Office apps, please post a new thread and we’ll be there to assist you.

    NOTHING (repeat....NOTHING!!!!!!!) has worked to fix this issue. I just bought the new version of Microsoft Office yesterday (12/29/21) because I was unable to complete a work project with the same issue on a previous version of Office. I looked on Microsoft Forums and they were less helpful than the actual USER comments. There seems to be no work-arounds that work on Mac and I am in dire need for a solution. I installed the previous version of word on my Mac Book Pro (16.55) (as per a Microsoft Moderator) and Microsoft says it cannot open. I just paid for this software. Now, I am in even a deeper mess because my boss is telling me to print out the files/fix the problem. I don't want Microsoft to be the reason I could possibly loose my job. I don't want to blame the Microsoft Company, I just really need help...FAST!!...PLEASE HELP!

    I have carefully read, analyzed, tested, and confirmed that all Microsoft Forum Help has been absolutely useless and the "work-around" possess DOES NOT WORK ON A MAC COMPUTER!

    I need advice on how to FIX (not work-around) this issue! My job depends on your support.

    Sorry for the uptick in necessity, but if you will not fix this soon, my entire company may be in the balance.

    I first tested 16.57 (21122200) and later I saw the beta updates to 16.58 (21122702) and tested that also.

    Both versions do NOT solve this issue.

    ps-1. Production release: Office 365/2021/2019 for Mac 16.57 Wednesday, January 12th, 2022

    ps-2. I'm running my beta tests on a MacMini M1 enrolled in Apple Beta Software Program. Currently I'm running macOS Monterey 12.1 Beta (21C5021h) on this Mac. Will update this MacMini to 12.2 beta later today but I don't believe that will doing anything for this MS365 issue.
