Lost all animation when converting PowerPoint to video

Hi

I can't seem to find this answer anywhere on the Web. I created a PowerPoint presentation with animations, recordings and transitions between slide. As usual I would save this as a open document on my one drive or desktop. I then exported this PowerPoint into a full HD video. Previously it would work perfectly. Today when I converted it into a video all my animations, transitions and sound editing were deleted. So when I played the video it was slides and audio but no animations or effects. When I went back to PowerPoint all my animations had disappeared from the animation pane. This was the case for all my power points. I decides to re animate 15 slides and try the process again. I saved a copy on USB. When I converted desktop version to video app animation was lost. I plugged USB and opened up PowerPoint and animation was lost.

I have tried to restore previous copies of my powerpoint but none of them have a copy of my animation. I'm confused as it means I can no longer create my educational PowerPoints.

Please can someone help

Thank you!!!

Thanks for getting back to us, Harpreet.

As of the meantime, we’re still in the process of identifying if the issue is related to application itself or file specific. You may send the request sample file in the private message where you’ve replied to, aside from replying here in the public thread.

When you mentioned that before converting the PPT file to a video, you’ve performed the Office repair first and the original PowerPoint file have lost some of its animation afterward. Is that correct?

    We’ll wait for your response.

    Hi Louie Del

Thank you for the prompt reply.

    1. I have office version 365
    2. it started on 26th Dec. I made a video at 2:40am which worked well. I went to make some tweeks to my slides and created another video at 9:30am and this is when I noticed all animations were lost in the video and ALL my powerpoint presentations. I reanimated the 1st 15 slide and created a another video, once again the animations didn't work. I didn't perform any changes or updates
    3. Yes I followed the article. I exported my video. I didn't have any narrations.
    4. Where should i post the  link so it remains private?

I'm currently following your troubleshooting steps. Fingers crossed the video export works. I have emailed a copy of the presentation to my gmail account as I use the onedrive and all animations were lost when this problem occured.

Is there anyway to overcome issues with video. I have noticed the slide transition isn't always smooth on the video or timings weren't correct.

    Thank you for your help

    Kind regards

    Harpreet

    Hi HarpreetBains2,

We understand that you’re having issues with the PowerPoint file that you’re converting to video, as the animation was lost. Let’s check on this further and we’ll assist you in the best way we can to sort this out.

This issue is more likely to have something to do with the process of conversion to video or it’s with the application itself. To know more about the situation, we’d like to ask the following:

    1. Which build/version of Office is installed on your device? You may click here for the steps on how to check it.
    2. When did the issue start? Were there any possible changes/updates made before this happen?
    3. May we confirm the steps you’ve taken when you perform the conversion of the file into a video? Did you follow the step provided in this article?
    4. Would you be able to provide us a sample presentation, so we can try the process on our end? This would be helpful for us to replicate this concern and isolate it at the same time. You may check this article: Share OneDrive files and foldersfor the steps on how you can share the file to us.

In the meantime, we can recommend some troubleshooting steps that can narrow down the possibility of having it related to the application. You may try the following methods:

    Method 1:

Check for an updated version of the Office app and install it. This would help in fixing some components of the Office app that may be affecting the way the file is being converted to video. For the instructions on how this can be done, please see this: Install Office updates.

    Method 2:

Run an Office repair. This is usually being performed if an Office app isn’t working as it should which can be related to the performance of the app. You may use the steps here **** and go to the Repair Office from the Control Panel section. Once done, try to check if the same issue will be observed.

Please respond to this thread to let us know how the issue progresses. Similarly, if you have more questions, please inform us by replying to this post.
