16.0.13801.20182 is the problem - either upgrade to 16.0.13801.20288 or downgrade as I wrote below and have been working for 3 days without the error.

This has NOTHING to do with Windows updates.

This is caused by the "Office 16 Click-to-Run Licensing Component" and its latest update to version 16.0.13801.20182 or later.

Rolling back to version 16.0.13530.20528 (aka "Version 2012") will solve the problem.

See below I have been error free since the downgrade after 3/7/21

Hi Player896353562, I have had Office 2016 on 'subscription (which was a one-off payment)' since 2015. Up to now, updates have been automatic, and trouble free.

I have just gone into my Office account on Microsoft, and clicked on 'Install', which downloaded Office/Outlook 2016. I now have 16.0.13801.20294 installed. 'File>Office Account>Office Updates' shows 'Updates are automatically downloaded and installed'. Rhetorical question: why wouldn't that update have been automatic?

Can I breath again, now, and not expect the 'Heartbeat' messages?

    Thanks for your help.

    Mike

As i said Ryan, i am already running Office 2019 version .20288 and i can confirm problem is gone.

For the records, i am in the process of updating all of my PCs to the March 2021 Windows 19042.867 version and this had no effect on the Heartbeat error.

You may want to check for Office updates. My Office 2019 machines are on build 16.0.13801.20288 and no longer have the Heartbeat error.
