I have both the native email app and the outlook app on my phone.
i can confirm the outlook app continues to work when the password has expired and is prompted for by the native mail app.
So this is a work around though i hate the layout of the outlook app and its slower to use.
i’ve recently deleted one of my accounts and re added it to see if this is also a fix. Not been going enough days yet to see if that foes the job but i recall a similar issue a few years back and this was a solution.
ive read somewhere that it is a known ios issue and apple will be releasing a fix but no date as to when.
ill update here after a week or so if the delete/add account fixes the issue in the native app.
i have multiple hotmail accounts on my phone so can compare the one ive readded with the others that continue to prompt.
Very useful. Yes, after a week or two, please do let us know how you get on. Same phone and e-mail account, and with both outlook and apple mail clients, is the perfect test case combination. So that's a sort of workaround. Personally, I'm a bit old fashioned,
and like to have different apps for work and personal mail (rather than multiple accounts under the same app) so I normally prefer to run 2 apps.
Interesting to see if deleting and adding it back (as either an outlook type account or an exchange type account) is a permanent fix - I'm a bit sceptical, but the only way to know is to try. Definitely seems to be something Apple needs to look at here.
I know for a fact that the iOS 13 mail app had huge problems with outlook accounts initially - double phantom sent items, incorrect display of reply/forward arrows etc. After several 13.x releases, they were resolved (Apple's change log confirmed this).
