Why is it when I copy cells from Excel and paste it into Gmail, the cells are pasted as an Image?

I usually copy and paste cells from Microsoft Excel to Gmail for work, this was was being pasted as an table of text that I could edit.

Then my computer was reformatted because of some issues and now after trying to use it again for work, I tried copying cells from Excel and pasting it in Gmail as usual, but now the cells aren't being pasted as a table, but as an image, like a screenshot of the cells. Could it be a software I had before or something?

Now the only way I can copy and paste cells from Excel is to go through Word, which adds an extra step.

I tried reinstalling MS Office, and it still didn't work, I'm currently using Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019.

    I can confirm that if you use Outlook for your Gmail, the pasting works as it used to, and that there has been no change.

    Good to know...but some of us don't like using Outlook...LOL

    I have over 600 users on google space. Irrespective of the version of OS, Office on the PC, everybody is complaining of same.
    I am on macOS Big Sure running MacOffice 2016. Same issue on mine. Firefox, safari, and chrome.

    I am having the same issue. I have been doing this for years and this has now impacted some business processes. It just began today. June 9, 2021

    The Google Sheet work around is OK, but the part I am disappointed with in this work around is that the paste also shows the gridlines form the Google Sheet which the paste from Excel did not. It was nice, clean formatted text.

    I have had no windows updates in about a month. I do notice the following, though, concerning office 365
