It's not just Microsoft. I'm having the same issue with Google Authenticator

This method will no longer work since FB will not allow you to put in a new email to receive a recovery code.

I just skimmed through the replies here and just an FYI...

Make sure to backup any accounts you have added to either Microsoft's Authenticator, Google Authenticator or any other Authenticator App you are using to store these accounts.

I wiped my phone a few years ago and lost access to my Facebook and 4 to 5 other accounts that I had setup using authentication this way.

The backups within the app where glitchy and didn't save properly.

That or make sure you get emergency backup codes that some companies give you, Facebook gives you 10 codes incase you get locked out of the authentication app.

I have been working to recover a clients Facebook account for over a month now and can't get any ID's sent to Facebook as their service looks be be overwhelmed or just not responding.

This technology works but Facebook is the worst as you can't contact them easy.

If anyone has a direct contact for Facebook please advise... so far this process has sucked and nothing working. :(
