Extending Office 365 subscription on new PC

I have purchased a laptop for my daughter which came with office 365 personal free for 1 year. She doesn't need this as gets its free at school. She has setup her own Microsoft account on it and i have also logged into it with my Microsoft account and then installed office which i thought would activate the year and add it to my existing subscription. At no point have we ever had the message to ‘activate office’. Her account just shows her school office and mine shows my office subscription with no date extension. How do i do this please its driving me bonkers! 

Running those two version of Office  is bound to end in disaster.  I am surprised that both version of Office are working.  To answer you mail question on the assumption that you have a working subscription of Office 365 Home on your computer, to extend the subscription you can purchase a subsection from a store.  You can enter the 25 character Product Key to extend your subsection here: http://www.office.com/setup  (It must be showing the email address for your Microsoft Account, that is, the same email address that you used to setup your Office 365.

PS: You cannot use a free trial version of Office 365 to extend an existing subscription and you cannot have two subsections on the same computer.

I dont even want to run the two versions of office, i only logged into my account on the new PC to try and activate the 1 year agsinst my account. I dont want to buy an extension, ive effectively got one with the computer i just bought, my question is how do i apply it?

Important: Your Microsoft account can have only one active Office 365 subscription. If you enter more than one product key at office.com/setup, you're extending the amount of time for that Microsoft account, not increasing the number of Office installs or amount of online storage you get. I have no idea. How would i know? Is there somewhere to look? It came with no product key in the box (which was what i expected) and no information on how to activate it. I have actually got a different laptop for my son and exactly the same scenario! Is it embedded somehow in the device? I know damn well i havent manually activated it and i am assuming you have to do this somehow as it says on the box theres a time limit.

Is the license linked to her account yet? If so, you can't link it to your account - activation will be using her account.
