Stop dictate from turning off in Word 365

Is there any way that we can prevent dictate to turn off (or at least extend the time that it stays on) in Word 365? I'd really like for it not to stop listening while I'm thinking about what to say.

    The issue I’m having from this and I think its the same with the other comments here is that it isnt shutting off after a few minutes its shutting off after a couple seconds or for me its often shutting off mid sentence with no delay at all

    This is the issue we're all having. This didn't happen in previous versions of word. Does anyone have a solution?

    Sorry that is totally incorrect.  I am having the exact the same issue as everyone on this thread.  I have used Dictate in Word 365 for the last few years and never had an issue.  You DO NOT have to be speaking continuously for it to stay on.  Your comment is completely inaccurate.  It is definitely an issue and not part of the design.  I noticed the comments are recent.  My computer just updated and I noticed the issue with Dictation shutting off happened after this.  The red button goes on but does not type out and shuts off fast.   Have a person who actually knows the reason because it is not a design problem!

    I too am looking for how to make the dictation work. It cuts off after a second. So disappointing to see the BOT answers in this thread.

    No resolution, Charles. The dictate function is, as you say, pretty nearly useless. I only use it if I know exactly what I want to say in advance. And, even then, I rarely use it.

    Dictate Feature will stop after few seconds if you didn’t speak or you don’t have any reaction. It’s not an issue, this is how it designed.

    This issue here is the dictation feature is not sensitive, and turns off mid-sentence.  Because of this, it is broken / useless.  Go ahead and try it.  Turn it on, then start talking.  It will often turn off mid-sentence without any warning, only dictating half a sentence, sometimes even half a word.

    And by the way... nothing wrong with my mic setup.  I use it in calls all day long and have no issues.  

    I'd like to report this as a bug, NOT a feature.
