Stop dictate from turning off in Word 365

Hi Ivy,

What JeffyP and Alpachino are referring to isn't "convenient" or "inconvenient" if you're disabled. They're necessary. Now, I don't know if these two people are part of the disability community or not, but I am. Using words like this make it sound like you're doing people in my community a favor by having these features, rather than accommodating individuals with disabilities.
Please do better.

this is extremely frustrating, I have tried google docs dictate and this this stays on all the time.

yea, I now use my Mac for dictation when I can, just for that reason.  It works ok on the Mac.  

The keystroke option for the PC does work.  Also, lately what I find is that when I click on the microphone on the menu bar, another microphone appears that is lower on the screen, and just a bit easier to click.  I find I am waiting for the irritating sound of the microphone signalling it is turning itself off, so I just turn the volume to 0, yet it still picks up my voice.  So at least I am spared hearing the alert.  Would of course be MUCH better if it simply turned off after a much longer time, ie 30 seconds would make a huge difference.

I use the function extensively for transcription.  A couple of tips that help with this.

First of all, assign a hotkey.  Not on topic, but a timesaver.

Second, you might benefit from finding some proxy words for a few purposes, including the automatic shutoff.  When I am transcribing and there's a pause, I'll throw in a word that doesn't apply to the situation, let's say blueberry, and then find and replace that proxy with nothing, once the document is complete.

The other thing I do is use proxy words for punctuation.  I find that there is a hiccup when you use Dictate's punctuation instruction words to insert a comma, a period, a question mark - especially transcribing the actual words, like time period.  These 'shortcuts' are more hinderance than help on a long piece, although I appreciate their intent.

These processes don't fix, but they do optimize around the limitations in place.

The issue I’m having from this and I think its the same with the other comments here is that it isnt shutting off after a few minutes its shutting off after a couple seconds or for me its often shutting off mid sentence with no delay at all

This is the issue we're all having. This didn't happen in previous versions of word. Does anyone have a solution?
