High CPU Usage on macOS Catalina.... This is very annoying!

Hey guys,

I've been feeling very frustrated about OneDrive:

Ever since I've switched to Catalina on my MBP 15", OneDrive keeps spinning up a bunch of processes called "OneDrive Finder Integration", about 5-6 of them and then Finder goes over 130% along with another system-level process. Needless to say, this kicks up the fans to the full speed and, if running on battery, chews up through so much of the battery. The only other way around this is to pause the app which defeats the whole point of having a "cloud" backup. I've looked around, run a bunch of scripts suggested, uninstalled, reset and then reinstalled the app with no success. Can someone help me with this?

BTW, why can't I check my Preferences (where the version number is accessible) when OneDrive is paused?!!! this is just poor planning as far as I'm concerned!

    Thanks for downplaying a major bug in your app as "the inconvenience".

    What would disabling the "Finder Extensions" do? Would it stop syncing the files and folders entirely?

    I went through a full resetting of OneDrive app AGAIN last night and this morning, the hopeless thing couldn't sync a folder that had a "Space Character" at its end. I fixed the naming and of course my Mac's CPUs are going for a sprint again (as in the fans are on full swing) for the past 10-15 mins! Amazing MS: takes you 10-15 mins of full CPU speed to upload 4 pesky files 

    BTW, the syncing error didn't indicate what was causing the error. I had to guess what's causing which was a space character " " at the end of the folder name! what the hell really?!! Why is it so hard to manage a "space character" for a trillion dollar company that relies and sees its

    Cloud services as its future after it got destroyed on Mobile OS world? For the record, I have a tech software startup company and am an engineer. So I don't appreciate any fluffing here! 

    As an update, it's still unclear if these files were uploaded or not 20 mins later and with the CPUs still firing at full speed:

    THis is completely unacceptable. From the "leader in the Cloud business" I'd expect this to be a non-issue by now! FFS

    By the, where's my 30 mins that I'll never get back trying to show you what the issue is (or its symptoms)? Why don't you get the OneDrive team to grab "One" MacBook Pro and have a go at this? **If we're your testing ground, we should be compensated. In my company, we call them QA tester.**This should have never passed any of your AC (Acceptance Criteria). This issue is repeatable and clearly there's more than just me that's had (your UserVoice section has a lot of comments).

    I go through the post carefully. Really sorry for the inconvenience. It is a known issue that OneDrive sometimes use too high CPU usage and memory in Mac OS, per the threads from OneDrive UserVoice: CPU Usage too high & Fix the memory leak in the macOS OneDrive client!, the related team of OneDrive for Mac is working on the issue. so, I would suggest you make sure you are using the latest version of OneDrive for Mac to get fix for this. You can download the standalone install package from the link: OneDrive release notes

    OneDrive Finder integration is to get sync status directly from Finder. I would suggest you disable them and check if it is better. You can find it by **clicking the Apple logo in the top left corner of your Mac Desktop and select System Preferences, then select Extensions in the top-level menu.**Uncheck it and check the result.

    Additionally, you may turn off File on-demand in OneDrive Preference and check if it help. for more information on file on-demand: Save disk space with OneDrive Files On-Demand for Mac.

    As for the preference grey out when pause syncing, I can see the behavior on my side. I would suggest you vote for the thread in OneDrive UserVoice: Link to let the  related team of OneDrive for Mac change it.
