Dear Customers,

Since we have been receiving great amount of issue report from those customers purchasing Microsoft 365 services from unauthorized channel, we would like to write a summary here so that all affected members can easily identify the problem and get the suggestions:

Problem background:

When Microsoft determines that you are using an unauthorized Microsoft 365 account, they will run fraud identification processes.

Users identified as fraudulent may:

  1. See a banner indicating that “Account deactivation. We’ve determined that this Office 365 account is unauthorized. This account will be closed on <Date UTC>, and you’ll lose access to your files and Office apps on this date”.
  2. have their content marked read-only and will not be able to create or edit content on their sites. Any synced content will also be marked read-only from the date of fraud identification.
  3. Users will lose access to any content (e.g., files, data or documents) stored in OneDrive, at the time specified in the notification you received. After the time specified, any content stored in the OneDrive associated with this account will be permanently deleted for data security reasons and your protection.

Suggestions:

Prior to the account deactivation, you have the option to do the following:

  1. Save your data: Prior to account deactivation date, move the content you don’t want permanently deleted to:
  2. A new or existing authorized OneDrive account
  3. Any other physical storage device you choose
  4. Another cloud storage provider

For impact users that accounts have been deactivated, we have limited resource to deliver more help. If you still have concern, we would like to suggest you:

  1. Contact your tenant admin to create a support ticket if they challenge the state of their fraudulent license.
  2. If you can't contact your tenant admin, contact Global Customer Service.

Reference:

We sincerely recommend you purchasing Microsoft services from authorized channel to avoid security risk.

Regards,

Rena

I am sorry but I dont think threatening them like that would work because we are end users, we really dont have the right to even do that.

The law is never a threat~~ and GDPR has created: a timely manner timeframe to resolve issue + a right to access your data for any EU citizen (I don't know about other countries).

I would like to re-cap what happened:

    • 26 Jun 2020: "Something's not right" error shows up. NO prior notice, nothing.
    • within weeks: the relayed information here on the forum is that: OneDrive has been patched with new features + the servers are under heavy constraints due to COVID-19.
    • 5 weeks after the incident: Rena officially recognizes a "third party sourced" problem, but the data is still barred from access, the solution offered is admin-centric.

Their "admin-only policy" has been very painful: 6 weeks without access is quite enough. I have very important data in there. I am fed up, & had some nights without sleep too. I want to move on as well!

The license acquisition issue is a something between Microsoft and the admins. If the so called "admins" found flaws in their system I have nothing to do with it. At the end of the day the service was accessed through the official "portal.office.com" website, and not via "one-day-microsoft-will-steal-your-data.com"!

I am sorry but I dont think threatening them like that would work because we are end users, we really dont have the right to even do that.

My theory is that the amount of blocked data due to this incident is super huge. And they decide to block (or delete afterwards, please dont do that) most of it and the admin's permit is required because not all admins would care to send a ticket, they would only open it for the ones who do so, so that the ones who dont remains blocked and they wouldnt have to open all the domains that could cause any possible problem to them.

As much as I want to suggest another solution to them to save my own data, I really cant come up with a better idea. But the data in it is too much for me to lose. If that wasnt that important, I wouldnt even care about it. I also think no one in the OneDrive team would even read our complains here other than those supports who can't do anything in authority to help us.

But please Microsoft, you really can do us a favor by opening some of the blocked domains for several days and then block again and then several after that... I know that is going to take time but let's start with the biggest ones first, we will spread the news so no one that cares for their data will miss it. We made a mistake but please give us a chance.

I have been unable to retrieve my data.

Can confirm it is the same situation. I was unaware that I have somehow obtained an illegal or unauthorised account. I would like to retrieve some important files, failing that, I would like for it to be deleted.

    Please assist.

    Hi,

I have been contacting the amdin to try and fix this issue for the longest time. Like the rest have mentioned, can you minimally open up those files and let us retrieve those files? This is horrible management. I would have gladly just paid for this but it came with the Microsoft Surface Pro 7 that I purchased.

Please give us a chance to at least get back our items. I have been throttled for a good 2 months!

******@ioffice.site is the account. I just need my files out.
