I have tried to open a word / excel document.

It says it is updating, please wait a moment.

After a few minutes I get a message saying:

WINWORD.EXE - Application Error - This application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

I used the first of the two methods shown in the Youtube video. It allowed me to open Word and use it. I don't know how long the fix will last, but it's a lot easier than reinstalling Office. I hope MS is paying attention to this thread and creates a fix. In my case the problem started after an OS update that was sent to my computer a couple days ago which I ran yesterday. Thank you "Murugan S" for the video and YogeshJain2 for suggesting it.

Same error occurred to me in December 2020. I repaired program and it resolved the issue.
