Updating office and getting an error message (Office for Windows)

I have tried to open a word / excel document. 

It says it is updating, please wait a moment. 

After a few minutes I get a message saying: 

WINWORD.EXE - Application Error - This application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.

    Thanks for your response. But it turns out that it was a Microsoft error in their updates. When I spoke with my tech he advised that he had already had 4 other clients call him with same issue. My outlook came right about 2hrs after I noticed the erro. I believe it was via a MS update.

    This is not helpful for Office 365

    You can repair Office 365/Microsoft 365 too, assuming that you are running Office under Windows. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b.

    Hi All....I used the System File Checker (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-repair-the-operating-system-and-how-to-restore-the-operating-system-configuration-to-an-earlier-point-in-time-in-windows-vista-a6ace28c-bf65-2ec3-6930-661a387666a5) and it found repairs that seem to have resolved the issue. It has now been a few days, and I think the fix has held up.
