How do I turn off the end of support banner in office 2010 permanently? (Office 2010, Windows)

Hi, 

I have a home and student edition of office 2010 that I am perfectly comfortable with. Every time I open the office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), MS helpfully points out that support is ending and that I should upgrade to a newer version. Screenshot attached. 

I would like an exit from this persistent nagging and quasi privacy nightmare. Some regedit skills are in place and I can follow instructions when clearly given, even if they are complex in nature.

    I found the message at HKCU, not HKLM:

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\TargetedMessagingService\0:en-US:BizBar\Message\Body

    and also at:

    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\TargetedMessagingService\1:en-US:BizBar\Message\Body

    (there are 2 sub keys under TargetedMessagingService, 0:en and 1:en)

    Under Message there is a Body key and a Header key. The Body shows:

    I changed the TimeToNextCall date to 2025-08-09, hoping they won't bug me for 5 years!

    This message does not come on all the time. I guess it depends on the TimeToNextCall date which probably isn't every day. So I'll have to wait a few days (or weeks) to see if this tweak works.

    If anyone has other ideas on how to tweak this, please share.

    Would deleting the entire key 'TargetedMessagingService' work or will it get recreated? Just a thought.

    Thanks for the update.  I've added it to my notes.

    I did one additional thing.  In the Body / Title key I added the sub key it is in, ie "...0:en-us"

    This way, if the message reappears I will know exactly where it is coming from.

    .

    I doubt that deleting the TargetedMessagingService will work. I expect that if during startup of any Office 2010 app it sees the whole key "missing", it will "help you" by "correcting the defect" of the missing message by inserting it again ... without telling you!

    I'm not sure I understood the 1st part. But as to seeing the whole key missing, would it help if most of the privacy options are unchecked in Office? As in the following:

    The first part of my previous reply.

    By default the 2 or 3 keys all display the same message. I'm curious to see which key is being use to display the message, if they show up again.  So I added text to the title text being displayed so I can uniquely identify where the message is coming from.

    Your second question. I don't know. When it comes to privacy, MS tends to ignore settings when it comes to their own SPAM. You can try it, but I don't expect it to work the way you think.
