How do I turn off the end of support banner in office 2010 permanently? (Office 2010, Windows)

The PR justification for this notice is to "protect" users from hacking.  I will grant that this is a valid. But they don't have to be so insistent about resetting user efforts to suppress this informationational message.

But lets face it, the real reason MS is so pushy about this notice is "encourage" people to spend money upgrading. Preferably to the 365 gravy train.

I offer this for whatever it is worth.  I had edited 0:en (for Word) and 1:en (for Excel) as I described on a previous post but I left 03:en (for PowerPoint) as-is.  I hardly use PP and I wanted to see what MS was up to.  Today I opened all 3 apps.  Word and Excel did not display the banner (as expected, hooray!) and PP did (also as expected). PP changed the TimeToNextcall by 2 days exactly.  Apparently MS uses GMT which is 5 hours ahead of CDT where I am located.  A year of so ago when this mess started MS used to pester us every few weeks and now it is every 2 days.  The banner color has changed from Yellow to a Bright Pink/Light Read as I could see in the unmodified PP.  I don't know where they set the color, do you?

I suspect that after Oct 13 they will post the banner every time one opens an Office app and it will be more obnoxious (bright red likely).  I wonder if they will ever quit on their own.  They will also edit the message, currently SUPPORT FOR OFFICE 2010 ENDING OCT 13, 2020 to SUPPORT HAS ENDED.....  Kind of them to use all caps to make it even worse.  Since I have changed TimeToNextcall to 2025 I wonder if they will notice this and "trash" the modifications.  We'll see...  :-(

HKCU is programmers abbreviation for HKey_Current_User

• H=Hive (a collection of registry entries)
• K= Key
• CU = Current User

That is the registry key currently being used. That is where the OS looks to find registry settings. If you use the OS to make changes, this is where the changes are written

The .Default user is the template MS uses to create new user keys.  The rest of the keys under HKey_Users are generated by Windows as new userids are created.  They are typically MS cryptic

When you sign in to Windows with a specific Windows userid, that tells Windows which specific sub key under HKey_Users to copy from into HKCU.

At the end of the Windows session, part of the shut down process copies the values under HKCU to the specific

HKey_Users subkey.

One of the sub keys under HK_Users is for the admin account (I think it is S-1-5-18 on all machines).
