How do I turn off the end of support banner in office 2010 permanently? (Office 2010, Windows)

I have read through this entire thread.  I'm a little confused on which registry change is the final solution.

Would anyone who has found a solution please point me back to the post that provides it. 

It's just typical of MS to add an annoying banner to a product we have purchased.  I really appreciate the work of the participants in this thread and hope a permanent solution will be found.

Go to the top of Page 2 and see the suggestion to edit the "TimeToNextcall".  Change the year date to 2025 (leave the rest of the time as-is, just change 2020 to 2025).  That is all you have to do.  You will not be hassled again until 2025... or you can change it to 2050 if you like but your computer will not last that long  :-)

I have done Image Backups before but a Registry Backup is still recommended.

It's easy to mess up with registry edits. A registry backup may not always be importable. It's best to do an image backup. There are many ways to do this (just google it). I use DiscWizard because that's the software provided by my external hard drive manufacturer Seagate. The good news is I haven't had any annoying banners ever since I did whatever I posted months ago. It worked for me. Hope it works for others too.

I want to second what 007 said but with different words:

Can a novice do this:  Yes

Can a novice make a mistake and render his computer inoperable:  Yes

Editing the Registry is not without risks and most articles strongly advise making a Registry backup just in case.  The problem with this is that if your computer will not boot up at all (and yes this can happen although not likely) it will be a real challenge to get to the saved backup.

Do you have a friend who is familiar with computers?  The best way to learn this is to have someone walk you through it.  Alternatively you can post questions here; you will get good advice but it make take time to walk you through it.  I would also second the comment about googling "Editing the Registry in Windows 10" and trying to get a feel for what is involved.  You will have to open RegEdit and then search for "TargetedMessagingService" [no spaces] and then follow the steps outlined in this thread to edit the Header/TimeToNextcall [no spaces] to the year 2025 or some other date.  That date is when the banner will appear again.
