Microsoft Office Click-to-Run (SxS) High CPU

I am using Office Home & Student 2019 with Windows 10 Home. The June update was recently completed to Version 2005 Build 12827.20268.

After installing this update I noticed that Microsoft Office Click-to-Run (SxS) showed continuous 24% CPU utilization in the Task Manager. Power usage was shown as very high. This did not occur prior to the update. I have metered connection set in the network settings and discovered that the problem goes away if I turn off metered connection and restart the computer.

Does this sound like a bug in the latest update? I have Office 2013 on another computer and there is no problem on that system with metered connection set. I'd be interested if others have seen this problem or have any suggestions.

Hi KenBell6 & Everybody else,

Just got latest update for my version of Office (Office 2016 ProPlus Retail - 32bit).  Found it on Current Preview Channel.  Downloaded it and rebooted my PC and CPU Usage is back to what it used to be.

Don't know if it's a permanent fix, hope it is, but it seems to be working fine so far, after 3 reboots (just to play it safe).  I have several Office apps open, and as you can see above it looks pretty good.  Good luck everyone, let me know if it worked for you.

    Hi kx707,

Okay, I sent a complaint on the Windows 10 Feedback Hub.  I saw a topic with High CPU usage under topics, and added my feedback to it.  I hope Microsoft does answer our concerns with a solution soon.  I guess we just have to wait and see.  Thanks for the tip.

Let's hope that your two feedback submissions led to some investigation.

I ran across an article discussing four different methods of submitting Feedback to MS Developers.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/send-feedback-to-ms-developers/506e7654-8ced-405b-911e-c58d8f253069

The author prefers using the Windows 10 Feedback Hub. It apparently lets you find all earlier submissions.

The article states that feedback from the applications is a one way feed which appears to be consistent with your experience. I'm sure it is worthwhile doing regardless. Maybe the best bet is to submit feedback using both the Windows 10 Feedback Hub and the Windows Applications.

    Ahem, guys?

The problem is back for me, even though I've previously removed the data limit for my LTE connection.

    :(

Edit: switching the LTE connection off and rebooting doesn't help. What the actual...

Edit2: It gets even "better"! So I killed the process, launched Word... the process re-spawned, but it behaves okay now. Even though rebooting hadn't helped. Unpredictable.

You can also open any office app. and there's a feedback link either above or below the options link.  There you can either choose a frown or smile and send them feedback, and I'm assuming that would relate to Office problems.  You can leave your email address as well, I don't know why, I've sent two emails regarding this problem so far, and haven't heard anything yet.
