1st Solution

Hi all many people using windowns 8 have this problem 2 days ago when Office 365 upgrade to version 2005 13001.yyyy

After 1 period of time repair my error this is my solution very easy

Reason for this problem is that Window 8 doesn't support Apps version on store, cause Word cannot work and run error like  api-ms-win-core-version-l1-1-1.dll on windows 8(64bit)

The best way is that

  1. Uninstall Office 365
  2. Run Window Update to 8.1 free and you can find in App store on Window 8
  3. Reinstall

Very easy not use SFC or anything else like install DLL from third party ...If you do this and effective, give me 1 like

Hi Everyone,

Assuming you're like me and want to stick with Windows 8 for one reason or another, here's how to fix this in 5 minutes:

1. Open a Windows command prompt.

2. Type the following, then press Enter:

cd "\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun"

3. You are now in the ClickToRun folder. Now type the following, then press Enter:

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.12730.20352

4. This will launch the installer and will install the update (in this case a rollback). Wait for the update to completely finish. It will have a success message when done.

5. Now launch Outlook and immediately go to the File Menu > Office Account > Update Options, and completely disable all updates. This will prevent the auto-updates from running and causing the same problem again.

Please note that I tried rolling back to several versions, and you need to go back to the version above to fix this issue.

For reference it is this version:

Version 2004 (Build 12730.20352)

3rd Solution of marco60cr you can download and install offline image (64bit 16.0.12527.20482) 

Just login to your Microsoft Account, Go to your Subscriptions. Select Microsoft 365. Install. Select Other Options, Download Offline Installation

Hi Everyone,

Assuming you're like me and want to stick with Windows 8 for one reason or another, here's how to fix this in 5 minutes:

Microsoft, please, fix this issue so people like me can have the updates we're paying for. We all know Windows 8 is old, but some of us cannot easily update to 8.1.

    I'm loosing my mind!!! I have tried to upgrade to Windows 8.1. Tell what I am doing wrong.

    1)Uninstalleed Office 365

    1. I went to App Store and did the 64 bit download. 
    2. Trying to install the USB/DVD Download Tool. There is no option for Windows 8 everything says Windows 7.  I guess I need that tool to get this done. 

    I"M NOT COMPUTER GUY. SOMEBODY FIX THIS MESS. HELP PLEASE

    Hi.

    As I said, this is not a viable solution.

    I do have a LEGAL Windows 8 AND Microsoft 365 license. However, the OFFICIAL Microsoft Update to Windows 8.1 creates EFI AND RECOVERY partitions that are too small, and the update process fails miserably. And, in any event, I do want to stick to Windows 8 for this machine.

    ANYWAY...

    I may have identified a solution for those willing to stick to Windows 8.

    I have uninstalled  Microsoft 365. Rebooted the system.

    I have chosen to download the offline installation image (64bit 16.0.12527.20482). Installed it. Word and PowerPoint both work fine.

    Started Word. Account. Update Options. Disable Updates. This is to prevent an update which will, with almost 100% probability, introduce the problem. Given that Microsoft - see below - does not plan to fix the issue for Windows 8 users, this is a minor one.

    If you are interested in giving it a try,  hurry up, before Microsoft updates the download.

    Suggestions:

    We’d like to suggest you upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1

    1.    You can refer to this article: Uninstall Office from a PC to uninstall your Office 365 applications.

    2.    Then Update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 to update Windows 8.1

    3.    Download and install Microsoft 365 again.

    According to System requirements for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, as well as all business, education, and government plans, Office requires to be installed in Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel , Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2016. Furthermore, refer to Windows 8 lifecycle, Windows 8 has been ended of support, thus, any conflict issue between Windows 8 and Office client apps, there will be no fix released for this unsupported system. 

    We understand the inconvenience to your work, for the best practice, we suggest you upgrade your Windows OS to the version of Office 365 for business supported to check if the same problem will occur.

    This is NOT a solution for everyone. I have tried several times in the past to update my computer to 8.1. It always ran into a problem and couldn't finish the update. I'm not using any "fake" or "cracking" version of Windows, it's simply that my computer fails to update to 8.1.

    Until the day before yesterday, everything worked just fine. Is there no way I can set my Word installation back to that previous state?
