Cannot Verify Server Identity. The identity of @outlook.office365.com@ cannot be verified.

I have this message appearing on my iPad every 20 seconds or so.  I use an Office365 exchange account to sync email, contacts and calendar onto the iPad and also use Onedrive for storage along with Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.

I have had periods of tim when this error message appears, but usually only for 24 hours max.  If it is for a prolonged period, I found that deleting the Exchange account from the iPad and setting it up again often cured the problem.

This time it has been going on for weeks, with no let-up.  I have deleted and set the account up again twice, to no avail.  Please help it's driving me bonkers.

    I was having the same issue on my Apple OS. The message would display every 5-10 seconds and was more than obnoxious. I went into my mail settings, i use Apple’s mail client, turned of SSL on incoming and outfoing mail servers and selected DONE. When i received the popup that log ins were disabled i hit DONE again. You will get an error message so make sure you hit DONE twice and it will force the tasks. After SSL is removed

    from both incoming and outgoing servers, select DONE on the IMAP Account Informatiom screen and let it verify. If you get the error message again,

    hit DONE twice to force.  It will verify credentials and complete the task. Then log back in and turn back on SSL on both servers and select done. This has corrected the issue for me.

    Jeff IS THE MAN! Did the above and it worked with no issues! My main Office 365 account is nos configured and working on my iPhone. Now trying to figure out the IMAP settings for shared/alias inboxes as those are not working with the same settings.

    I belive I found the solution to this.

    On IOS, under Mail > Accounts go to your outlook account settings.

    change outlook.office365.com to just outlook.com

    Then reboot your device.  This worked for me.  I also changed the smtp server to outlook.com

    The issue seems to be that the certificate name is different than the server name we are trying to access.

    Cannot Verify Server Identity. The identity of "imap.gmail.com cannot be verified by Mail."  

    Happening this whole week on iphone and ipad. Deleted mail app and still happening.

    suggestion for turning off ssl seems like an unsecured solution.  Why is this suddenly happening? Is iton the Microsoft side or Apple side?
