Click-to-Run High CPU Usage

Recently I noticed that there was a background application constantly running on my PC called 'click-to-run'. It runs from the moment I switch on the PC and it never stops and even if I stop the task, it will simply start again. It uses around 25% CPU load and when opening an Office app, like Word, that app uses another 25%. I am using Office 365 which I downloaded through the Education bundle which they offer. Is there a fix for this high CPU load please?

    Dear Hugo,

I did the repair process that you suggested and installed the new office using that application rather than through the website from where I previously installed the education office bundle. There might be a problem with the installation procedure of this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office

The problem appears to have been fixed and everything is in order. I appreciate your constant help and wish you a good day.

Here is a screenshot after the new installation when I open Word:

    Best Regards,

    Stephen

Also what I noticed it that whenever I open a new office app, for example word, for some time there will be two Click-to-run programs running and then one goes away. So there are two applications of the same thing running at once.

    Hi Hugo,

Word still consumes a lot of CPU as well yes and Click-to-run is still running in the background. There are no more updates remaining, and when I close all office applications, Click-to-run still continues to work.z I will try to use the repair link you sent me.

    Regards,

    Stephen

    Hello Stephen,

Thanks for the screenshot, during tests with the latest 2005 (Build 12827.20336) of the Current Channel (Preview) channel, I could find the problem of "Click-to-run process High CPU usage" only when the Office updates. After that, it works normally.

I noticed the Microsoft Word application also consume high CPU, may I confirm the problem still persists after the updates? If so, Would the "Click-to-run process High CPU usage" problem persists after closing all opening Office applications? I'm thinking whether Click-to-run process needs to complete some tasks required in the opening Word documents.

If the "Click-to-run process High CPU usage" problem persists even you have closed all Office applications, I would like to suggest you perform Online Repair to repair the Office suite.

    Best Regards,

    Hugo
