OneNote for Windows 10 freezes entire computer when drawing

I have the same problem. Tried all suggestions, but the problem does not go away. This is a big showstopper and needs immediate resolution. Thanks.

I'm a student that uses OneNote for Windows 10 with my digital pen to write class notes/study and I've recently noticed that the entire computer would freeze after some use. Here are some notes regarding my situation:

• This issue happens only when I am drawing with my digital pen.
• Ive never encountered this issue when using OneNote by itself- it only happens when I am using it to draw while watching a Youtube video or if I use it during a conference call (I have a dual-monitor setup)
• When it freezes, I am unable to Ctrl + Alt + Delete to reach task manager. I need to manually shut the computer down by holding down the power button.
• If I was watching a Youtube Video or calling someone and my computer freezes, the audio will continue to run and the person on the other side will be able to hear me until about 2 minutes later when that goes away too.
• This problem doesn't exist in OneNote 2016.
• The computer freezes about 15 minutes into working on it.
• I don't know if this helps, but I have a Lenovo Flex 14 (AMD) and use it with the Lenovo Active Pen 2.

Hi everyone! This problem is mostly related AMD users. Because I also have Lenovo flex 5 Ryzen 5 model and I still curse the day when I bought it. The problem is not just with the one application like OneNote for windows 10 but for all the application which are compatible with touch. I try to diagnose the problem. Here what I found:

1. The actual problem is with the digitizer of the screen which is incompatible with AMD graphics.
2. Using any application like OneNote for Windows 10, MS whiteboard, Nebo, Pen book and Scribble ink having a same trouble.
3. The active pen itself comes with a loose spring system due to which it loses battery contact after using for couple of minutes.
4. AMD chipsets like Ryzen 5 4500u is incompatible with touch-based laptops specially with pen.
5. Changing Windows 10 and factory reset won't work.
6. Updating software and driver update and any update just fix the issue for little while actually it increases the duration for lag.
7. Important after every 30-40 minutes your screen going to freeze if you are using an active pen.

The solutions which I have found;

1. If you just bought your laptop (specially all the 2 in 1 AMD variants) and it's in 10 days replacement, just send it back and buy a intel one instead because intel variants have least problem.
2. Use OneNote 2016 and Whiteboard application instead of traditional applications.
3. For pen you need to insert a spring (from writing ball pen specially they work fine for me) towards to the positive terminal of battery. (It worked for me as it increases the working duration for about 4-3 hours but after it, I am having the same freeze)
4. If your screen freezes then, need to force reboot or shutdown as I already mentioned the problem the screen digitizer and AMD graphics so your 2 in 1 is just working on processor level but only on screen it's not showing anything but just the cursor moving and background application still running without any trouble till windows realizes and try to trouble shoot the problem and after sometimes it starts working fine so natural troubleshooting takes 3-5 sometimes 6 minutes but I have method in which you have to simply close your lid whenever your laptop freezes and open again by this work will be fine and nothing loses.
5. Try to update AMD graphics driver.
6. Try to update WACOM drivers.
7. Since the digitizer problem is related with AMD graphics and WACOM drivers and from 2019(or even later) till now there is no solution for this problem the only thing you can do is to wait. Until AMD, Microsoft Windows, WACOM and Lenovo (other manufacturer) finally fix this problem.
8. Windows forum can resolve this issue but I don't think they are doing anything.

SO i found a solution 

Graphic setting > Choose app preference : microsoft app > Onenote 

assign it as POWER SAVING MODE

Thank you for your answer and I apologize for the late reply. I've tried your recommendations but the problem hasn't gone away; OneNote for Windows 10 still freezes.

I have the exact problem, onenote apps freezes everytime im using my Lenovo pen after about 10-15 minutes but not in onenote 2016.

I already do all the suggestion above but not working. please fix the problem because i really like the features on onenote apps.

Im using Lenovo Ideapad C340.
