535: 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful

Hello,

I have an issue when using an O365 account and sending emails from an application.

The application has been suitable to use tls/starttls, port 587, ect.

When entering an email account and password, the following message occurs:

"535: 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful"

I would like to understand, what are the mininal features of an O365 account so that it can be used from another application.

I have performed different tests, which allow me to indicate that the account is Ok.

    So, how does this change if using a MAC? I have had same SMTP problems with both HP and Brother.  Agree with all re: godaddy support sucks.

    Will try to do this tomorrow and let you guys know if it worked out for me.

    Godaddy should talk to their Outlook 365 provider and tell them to enable SMTP per default instead of all this hasle...

    Hi Maria,

    Yes, you can run this from your machine in an elevated PowerShell.  I don't know why this dumb wysiwyg editor keeps changing everything I put in but here's a screenshot that might help.  The fact that it's connecting to "-ConnectionUri https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/" is why it should work remotely.  Hope this makes sense.

    Since this account was already fixed it just throws errors after this point but the commands above should work.

    Can you please clarify this method for us dummies?

    Should I run powershell on my own PC?

    Or am I missing something?

    Godaddy support is a pain in the ***... No help at all from them.

    They are telling me that they did enable the SMTP but still I can't authenticate.
