Cannot enable OneDrive 'Camera Upload'

Hello,

I want to free up space on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.

When I try to enable 'Free up space on the device' in the OneDrive app, I get the message:

'Camera upload must be enabled ...'

The problem is that there is no camera upload setting anymore.

Or am I missing something here ...?

I use the latest version of Android and version 6.1.1 of OneDrive.

Thanks!

From all I've read this is by design as MS only allows or sees a need for one service to backup photos to Onedrive.  Choose Samsung gallery backup and the other will be is turned off for photos. I really don't see the need for the samsung gallery backup if native Onedrive does the task perfectly.

It seems like the issue gets resolved only when samsung account is removed but when you try to add it back then the upload will turn off again.

Samsung + Microsoft, are you guys going to fix this  :)  ?

Hi, this behavior is by design after the fact Samsung switched regarding Gallery Sync to OneDrive.

If you look in the Samsung Gallary application you will be forwarded to the OneDrive application.

And see in the folder "..\Pictures\Samsung Gallery\DCIM\Camera" for example the files synced.

Sometimes it stops and I found it helpful to toggle the switch as talked about by RedBentle.

This switch will be toggled off again but in my case it started the resync process where it stopped.

    Solved Camera Upload

After adding a work account both you need to

    • Open Android Settings
    • navigate to Accounts and Backup/Accounts
    • tap on your personal OneDrive Account
    • then tap Sync Account
    • make sure Media Storage sync permission is turned on

That fixed it for me. Looks like any time you add a second or business account to onedrive you'll need to re-enable that setting.

After that go you should see gallery or camera upload as a selectable option again in the Onedrive "Me" Tab/Settings

    Best
