Autosave Option Disabled - Office Mac

All my files are saved on OneDrive folder (which is synced). When I open a word file from my OneDrive folder, the option to AutoSave is disabled and I can see a msg "Saved on your Mac". How is that, if it is on Onedrive and syncing ??? I have, then, to save a new copy, select Save Online, chose the SAME FOLDER, chose another name, and then, the Autosave option is enabled. Does anyone know how to solve it?

I found the autosave function of my office 365 works again today.

I did nothing except keeping my office 365 up to date in "insider slow" channel.

mac OS: 10.15.1

onedrive: 19.222.1110.0004(Standalone)

office 365: 16.33(19120401)

    Hi Tina,

Just to confirm this field has always been checked, while the problem occurred.

    Regards,

    Hi All,

Thanks for the confirmation. So AutoSave is disabled when opening different Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) stored in OneDrive.

As you use OneDrive sync client to sync the files and open the synced files in Office desktop apps, I would like to confirm information below:

When you find the AutoSave button disabled, if you open OneDrive sync client Preferences(click OneDrive icon from Mac top menu>More>Preferences), in Office tab, is the option "Use Office applications to sync Office files that I open" checked or not checked?

If is it not checked, please tick it and click OK.

Reopen a document from OneDrive sync folder and see if the AutoSave button is still disabled.

    Appreciate your patience and effort.

    Best regards,

    Tina

    Hi Tina,

I double checked that this option is on and in effect it is "ON" or "Checked" from the beginning of this issue. However today the Office apps are presenting an estrange behavior. Sometimes the autosave works when I open the docs from finder anda sometimes not. Even sometimes when I open the office documents it gives me a message od "read only documents", but I cloys the document and open it again and the message disappears and autosave feature is working.

I did not update nothing on my computer but today this is the behavior of the apps. Sometimes autosave works and sometimes. Not....but today for me is something.

    My experience echoes neojogo's.

My "Use Office applications to sync Office files that I open" has always been set to ON.

Nevertheless, the bug appears to have been resolved: my files now have AutoSave on.

    Many thanks.
