All my files are saved on OneDrive folder (which is synced). When I open a word file from my OneDrive folder, the option to AutoSave is disabled and I can see a msg "Saved on your Mac". How is that, if it is on Onedrive and syncing ??? I have, then, to save a new copy, select Save Online, chose the SAME FOLDER, chose another name, and then, the Autosave option is enabled. Does anyone know how to solve it?

I found the autosave function of my office 365 works again today.
I did nothing except keeping my office 365 up to date in "insider slow" channel.
mac OS: 10.15.1
onedrive: 19.222.1110.0004(Standalone)
office 365: 16.33(19120401)

Please also check if this issue is occurring specifically in Word for Mac, or the PowerPoint and Excel have the same issue. Meanwhile, please navigate to open the Word application, click on Word > Preferences > Save, make sure the following options are enabled.

This issue is occurring in all apps Word, Excel and Power Point. I must say I have the latest version of all.

The issue exists across Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Another way to reproduce the issue is to open a file on OneDrive in the sync folder: when you try to enable AutoSave, it asks you to save it on OneDrive (but it is already on OneDrive).
I checked my preferences:
Word (16.30 (19101301)):
Turn on AutoSave by default > On
Allow background saves > On
Excel (16.30 (19101301)):
Turn on AutoSave by default > On
PowerPoint (16.30 (19101301)):
Automatically save files by default > On

Thanks for your reply and providing all the detail information. Recently, we also received quite a few users reported that AutoSave feature is disabled after they updated to MacOS Catalina. After we did more tests, this issue also can be reproduced from our side as well. The issue likely be caused by the new operating system updates from Apple. At this moment, we kindly suggest you contact Apple Support for further assists. I'm very sorry to hear that, I really hope that this problem could be fixed as soon as possible by any side (Microsoft or Apple) because it is very annoying to work without the autosave feature. I will be aware of any updates with the solution.
