Autosave Option Disabled - Office Mac

All my files are saved on OneDrive folder (which is synced). When I open a word file from my OneDrive folder, the option to AutoSave is disabled and I can see a msg "Saved on your Mac". How is that, if it is on Onedrive and syncing ??? I have, then, to save a new copy, select Save Online, chose the SAME FOLDER, chose another name, and then, the Autosave option is enabled. Does anyone know how to solve it?

I found the autosave function of my office 365 works again today.

I did nothing except keeping my office 365 up to date in "insider slow" channel.

mac OS: 10.15.1

onedrive: 19.222.1110.0004(Standalone)

office 365: 16.33(19120401)

Unfortunately even with version 16.33 the issue remains. I have tried every single suggestion here and nothing works. It might have worked for a couple of people, whose settings I don’t know. Even uninstalled OneDrive and Office and started a clean installation, which resulted in no result.

It is very frustrating because I have a PC with Windows and it has been working perfectly since then. So, it might be any unsolved bug that prevents it to work in a Macbook.

Let’s pray we are going to have some solution by the end of my master next year.

    Hi everyone

First of all, thank you all for your posts. I'm French and I couldn't find any information in French about this problem.

I also have the same problem with Autosave that doesn't work when opening an Office365 file from the Finder.

On the other hand, it's not exclusively related to macOS Catalina. I still have the old mac OS Mojave version.

I've just registered in the Insider Low program. For the moment, I still haven't received Office version 16.33. I'll let you know if that solves the problem.

    Hi The Technophobe,

    Thanks for the information.

The version 16.33 is an Office insider version, as you downloaded the Office application from the Apple Store, currently you might not be able to join the insider program at this time. Really sorry about that.

Please wait patiently until the version 16.33 is released in the Production Channel. Your understanding is highly appreciated.

Feel free to post back anytime.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen

    Dear Alex,

I once thought I had a fix.  For some reason, I wiped my Mac again.  After setting my Mac up, t o my surprise, the issue re-appears.  I have Catalina 10.15.2 + Word 16.32 (19120802) (App Store version) + OneDrive 19.192.0926.0012 (App Store version).

Looking forward to version 16.33 and will update if the issue persists.

    Many thanks.
