Autosave Option Disabled - Office Mac

All my files are saved on OneDrive folder (which is synced). When I open a word file from my OneDrive folder, the option to AutoSave is disabled and I can see a msg "Saved on your Mac". How is that, if it is on Onedrive and syncing ??? I have, then, to save a new copy, select Save Online, chose the SAME FOLDER, chose another name, and then, the Autosave option is enabled. Does anyone know how to solve it?

I found the autosave function of my office 365 works again today.

I did nothing except keeping my office 365 up to date in "insider slow" channel.

mac OS: 10.15.1

onedrive: 19.222.1110.0004(Standalone)

office 365: 16.33(19120401)

Thank you very much Cliff - I can confirm that we are speaking of the same issue.

In my experience it is quite hard to bring any bug to Apple's attention.  As I understand it, only Apple Developers may report bugs to Apple, and Apple's Discussion Forum is barely monitored.  Moreover, Apple is likely going to point us back here, given that the issue is Office-specific.

I would therefore be most grateful if you may raise this issue to the Office/OneDrive for Mac team directly.  Thank you very much.

    Hi,

I am using OneDrive Standalone version (19.192.0926.0007). Word for Mac 16.30.

The sequence of action is happening as you described.

    Thanks a million!

    Dear All,

After doing more tests, I can reproduce such an issue with the OneDrive sync client for Mac and Word for Mac 16.30 on our Mac Catalina. As the issue happens after updating the version of the Mac operating system to Catalina and it may be caused by the operating system updates, I suggest you contact  Apple Support for expert help. The engineers there may involve more resources on checking the issue further.

If the engineers in Apple can’t fix the issue in your environments, welcome to post back and let us know some updates and we’ll try to involve some resources to see if there is a feasible way on fixing the issue.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Cliff

    Dear All,

Could you confirm whether the reproducing steps of the issue are the following?

1.Sync the OneDrive data with the OneDrive sync client for Mac.

    1. Open a file from the OneDrive sync folder.
    2. AutoSave is disabled on the file.

If yes, @Milton and Old-Man-And-The-Sea, I’d like to confirm the version of the OneDrive sync client for Mac you are using as well.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff
