Microsoft Auto Update gives "One or more updates package could not be downloaded" message

This is for MacOS 10.14.5

Microsoft AutoUpdate is v 4.12

Office Updates are 16.26

Worked with first level support to completely clean my Mac of all microsoft products and reinstall latest package.

Ran in SAFE MODE no change.

Ran Cocktail and Disk Utility no change.

Repaired permissions no change.

I post this issue (which I believe is only showing up on my Mac - others in our house don't do this - every time an update occurs. First MAU comes up with an update to itself which doesn't download, then I take a new copy of MAU off the MS website and install it manually, then it works and shows the new updates which then won't download - same issue, so I then download the whole MS office and install it, then everything works again until the next autoupdate which then has the same issues.

Watching the progress bars it appears that the files just don't want to download and save in whatever spot it's trying to put them.

Just to clarify - I have MAU 4.12 now, and I have Office 12.26 installed. Everything is the latest. But MAU runs and says a new MAU needs to be installed and that is 4.12.0 and when it tries to download is when this happens.

I spoke to MS support today on this issue.

It has come back up "MAU won't install updates" and this is the "One or more update packages could not be installed"

Because the new versions of office 16.29.1 just came on the server and they don't even have a complete update package - you have to update via this page - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac
- and use the individual update packages for 16.29.1
MS Support took control of my computer, installed the MAU 4.15, deleted my entire office suite, re-installed the 16.29 package from the website above, checked the MAU which still said I needed 16.29.1 and then gave up.

So I didn't see support check any of the other items commonly checked for this issue - the presence of MAU in the library PrivilegedHelperTools folder, doing a SAFE boot of course is not possible in a remote session, but we did manage to use CleanMYMac when deleting the MS package because that deletes everything - preferences, support files, everything MS through my Mac.

I had previously replaced OSX completely from the internet install.

So once again the issue is not resolved, there are many people who pay a subscription to MS and don't have a working product, except to manually update, and MS Support has struck out on solving the problem.

PERSONALLY I DON'T BELIEVE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO WALK AWAY FROM A SUBSCRIBER WITHOUT SOLVING THEIR PROBLEM.

Alex - also would you please provide the permanent link to down the latest microsoft version of office? I'm being told to update by MAU, and now having issues finding the manual download of the latest version.

I have looked at this "feedback" advice and this is basically a anonymous suggestion box. I think we need to be filing non-anonymous support cases on this issue so we can encourage all of the people who have had this issue for years to come forward. Can you instruct us on how to do that?
