one drive error "your onedrive folder can't be created in the location you selected"

I have this error "your onedrive folder can't be created in the location you selected" I had onedrive working fine on my computer for a long time then over the weekend it stopped working and now I have this error. I have tried the following

  1. Remove Onedrive and reinstall it.
  2. It works on other drives but I want all my Data on my Data drive
  3. I have trie downloading and installing OneDrive to the targeted drive, check if the OneDrive can recognize the drive as a right location. You can have a try to see the result, this I can do but it keeps coming up with the same error
  4. I have right clicked my targeted drive >  properties > Security > and checked that I have the Full control permission of the drive.
  5. Create a new test Windows user profile to see the result.

As the issue persists here is the information below:

  1. I attach a screenshot about the drive property showing the NTFS format and
  2. A screenshot about the error message.

Please let me know how I can fix this

    I am currently using the "insiders ring" solution as was suggested and it's working on both my personal and business OneDrive accounts.  Does anyone know if unchecking that box and getting out being a Beta Tester will send us all back to the issue at hand or has the problem been corrected?

    yes. fixed. thanks Justin for your incredible independent research and solution. microsoft should be so accommodating when there are this many issues/questions posted. obviously not a fix so we'll await a permanent solution

    This worked perfectly for me. After being without OneDrive for nearly 3 months.

    Steps were:

    Now everything is synchronising.

    This problem has come back. Now the issue does not get fixed by getting the latest Insider Ring update. I've also tried to delete the registry key for OneDrive, but to no avail. I'm trying to get my OneDrive to sync with a Network drive, does anyone know if this changes the dynamic?

    I tried a simpler solution, which worked for me. Maybe it will work for others (given that it's not a complicated issue).

    1. Copy your OneDrive folder to your Users folder on your D drive. 
    2. Unlink This PC in Settings. 
    3. Go to your D Drive, navigate to D:\Users\youruser\OneDrive(Right Click) Select Properties.
    4. Under Security, click on Users. Change permissions on Edit, and give Users Full Control, and Modify.

    5. Sign-In on  OneDrive, and Change Location to your new folder.

    If giving your users full permissions didn't work, it also worked for me to place it in the upper-level D:\Users without assigning permissions. 

    Worked for me! Good luck guys! Hopefully no need to mess with registries.
