one drive error "your onedrive folder can't be created in the location you selected"

I have this error "your onedrive folder can't be created in the location you selected" I had onedrive working fine on my computer for a long time then over the weekend it stopped working and now I have this error. I have tried the following

  1. Remove Onedrive and reinstall it.
  2. It works on other drives but I want all my Data on my Data drive
  3. I have trie downloading and installing OneDrive to the targeted drive, check if the OneDrive can recognize the drive as a right location. You can have a try to see the result, this I can do but it keeps coming up with the same error
  4. I have right clicked my targeted drive >  properties > Security > and checked that I have the Full control permission of the drive.
  5. Create a new test Windows user profile to see the result.

As the issue persists here is the information below:

  1. I attach a screenshot about the drive property showing the NTFS format and
  2. A screenshot about the error message.

Please let me know how I can fix this

    Hi everyone,

    I've reached out to Office 365 support and they said they're aware of the issue and are working on a solution.  I'll post it here when i get something from them.

    I have a similar issue and unfortunately the uninstall/reinstall plus regedit solution does not work for me.

    A bit of history;

    I had onedrive working happily on a second internal drive (D:) until a recent microsoft update. After that, onedrive seemed to partially work, but had the error that "We could not find your Onedrive folder ... etc". In trying to fix it, I uninstalled and reinstalled only to find that I cannot move the onedrive to the original location because "it cannot be created there" ( clearly it can, as it's been there for 2 years! ) AV and other similar system software has been disabled but made no difference.

    With a bunch of software using it as a main repository, I must sync new files / database etc saved into the old location.

    It sounds like a fault introduced by a Microsoft update...

    Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone have a fix?

    Hi,

    I am facing exactly the same issue since last 2 days !! Have tried re-installing one drive, removing the antivirus software, re-installing office 365, updating windows 10 but the problem has not been resolved. Is any solution available ?

    You could try this:

    If you have software as Antivirus / Anti Malware / Bit-defender / Tune-Up / Vpn you could stop it and set to restart for the next boot of PC, then copy Onedrive instalator file directly in the new hard drive and run it from there.

    Hi Renzo

    Thanks for your response. The drive I am trying to get Onedrive working on is an internal HDD 2TB drive. I am using this as my SSD C drive does not have the capacity.

    I have tried what you said and still get the same error message.

    What should I try next
