SharePoint Republish Button Disappearing

Recently, when I click the Edit button to go into Editing mode in SharePoint Online, the Republish button doesn't display where it used to. In order to get it to show back up I have to refresh the page.

  1. Click Edit button.

  1. Republish button missing.

  1. Refresh the page. This popup keeps reappearing no matter how many times I close it out.

  1. After closing the pop-up, the Republish button has returned.

  1. Clicking the Republish button puts me back at Step 1. I have to go through this process every time I want to Republish any page.

As you can see, this quickly becomes annoying. Please help!

    I'm willing to help. 

    I create a new site for test, but I can't repro the issue by my side so I have several questions to know your condition better.

    1. What browser you are using? Change to Chrome or Edge and check the result.  
    2. Does the issue happen in only one site or other sites?
    3. Please send the URL to another admin and check if he has the same issue as yours.

    Sorry, but I don't believe you. Same problem here - sometimes we get the republish button sometimes not. It's hard to figure out under what circumstances it disappears. Pretty sure this has changed over the last few weeks so could Msft confirm exactly what's supposed to happen when a news post is in edit mode? Also provide step by step with screenshots.

    Thanks for your sharing and I tested aigain in both Modern Team site and Communication site. Unfortuantely, I still couldn't reproduce the issue by my side, the republish button always show up wehn I click Edit, here is my screenshots.

    I undrstand your feeling and if it happen in your tenant, it's better to open a ticket in Admin Center and provide your screeshots and tenant information, you will get further help from our engineer.

    I just put a site page into edit mode, made a change  - NO republish button. I "saved as a draft". Checked the site pages library and the page is NOT published but it is checked in. I clicked "publish" went back to the page and NOW I see the republish button which makes zero sense. There's definitely something intermittently wrong with the draft/check in/publish process. Confirmed with multiple users - this is a bug that needs to be fixed  - and please answer the question about what we SHOULD be seeing..

    It should show Republish button next to Edit button.

    After clicking "save as draft", the site status should show Check out.
