Word Dictate - keeps typing 'what'

Hi, I just started using the dictate function in Word and its great. However when I pause for too long it types 'What' and if i'm not careful i miss it and it stays in my text. I have tried several times and there is no background noise and I am not breathing heavy or saying anything? It will often type 'what' also before the dictate function times out and turns off. 

edit - it is now also typing 'hello' and 'heehee'. I think its possessed!! 

The function commands such as hyphen, open parenthesis etc do not work either. comma, full stop do. Also is there a way to lengthen the time out function as I find it too short?

Any suggestions or anyone else having this problem?

Thanks @Rohn007 for pointing this out - I have just e-mailed Emily Tran to let her know. She is the person from Microsoft working to fix this.

When we were last in contact she hadn't been able to see the 'hello' problem in action. This might be why.

I think most of us would like to continue using the dictate function - it just needs a bit of perseverance to get there, and collaboration with Microsoft to help them.

Onwards and upwards!

A fix has been deployed to 100% of Dictation users - please let us know if you still see the issue.

    There is nothing you can do. It is a "known feature" (aka BUG) that is happening in the back end.  MS is already working on it. All you can do is submit a feedback to MS to let them know the problem is still happening.

    I'm using OneNote for dictation.

    It types "hey" almost always before starting with the what I've actually said. There is no noise in the background to keep prompting that word. Am I missing something?

    Thank you for letting us know, based on the recent feedback it sounds like the issue may have been minimized in some cases but still occurring for some others. Since you still reproduce the issue, could you please contact me (see my profile for email) so we can potentially get an audio sample where this happens side-by-side with the "hey" text you're seeing?

    The issue is still here.   Random "hellos" and occasionally also "have".  

    I'm noticing a significant Improvement in the dictation. Far fewer random insertions of words like hello and read. I would love to see greater ability to insert punctuation as you can with periods and colons.  It would also be fabulous to not have the first word you dictate start with an uppercase first letter when the dictation is mid-sentence. Thanks MS, the future is improving and I look forward to continued progress.

    Regarding punctuation, feel free to let us know which ones you want and how you would ideally like to say them. We are definitely adding more!

    The June 4th communication above mentions a fix being deployed - can I have it, please?

    I the "new & improved" (not so new) world of "click to run" MS has taken total control of Office (and Windows) updates. They push them out at us when they feel like it. Updates like new features and bug fixes are often pushed in a 'controlled' manner. They are given to limited groups. If there are no new problems, it is released to larger groups.

    You can go to File menu > Account command > Update Options button > Update Now command to force a scan for new updates that have not yet been delivered.

    This fix does not require an Office update as it is through the service powering Dictation :)
