Restart Office to apply changes to your privacy settings - endless notices

Nothing new on this still. Lack of response is deafening as well as telling from lack of anything from MS. This whole thing began with new updates and making some changes to privacy settings to keep my content more private and not 'mined'.

It seems new privacy defaults get set with updates. Even after further updates this behaviour remains. 

Appears if you want to enable privacy you get to endure troublesome and erroneous error messages as a result. 

Really nice customer oriented behaviour...

And my latest favorite, "oh, you want to see the report on data we have collected on you, fine but you have to enable Cortana (data collection) in order to access it."

I am getting the same issue, MS Office keeps asking for restart. Despite me closing all Office applications and re-opening still asks for restart. Have closed ALL and restarted entire laptop (Window 10) device, still persists.

1.- Open an Office application, for example Word >> File (Click on this option) >> Account >> Manage settings >> Account privacy >> You will see the table: Your data, controlled by you (Scroll down) >> Connected experiences >> Allow Office to analyze your content to provide you with improvements (Activate this option) >> Accept, quit Word, verify the results.

fails at >>Account privacy>> there is no data table!! I just get a small window in my desktop colours saying "Restart Required" and a helpful OK button that doesn't do anything except clear the window.

Like other users I don't want Office to analyze my content, I am happy using the Office apps as they are, PROVIDED I don't get stupid recurring messages telling me to RESTART OFFICE!

Can anyone find a fix for this?

I thought that, with the latest forced installation of a revised version of Windows, the problem might stop. But it hasn't. Logically, any changes I might have made to the privacy settings should have been registered when I started the program--a restart would make sense only if I made changes WHILE THE PROGRAM WAS RUNNING. It makes no sense that appears when I first open a program.

I have found, however, that I can close the restart box and proceed normally without a restart. Thus the only real consequence is that it's a repeated reminder of how unresponsive Microsoft is to its clients. But if it doesn't bother them, I'll simply tick up another point in favor changing to Mac.

I have the same problem.  However, when I get to File>>>Account>>>Manage Settings, I get another error message saying "Restart Required".  I cannot complete the remaining steps you recommended.  Any suggestions?

I also don't want Microsoft analyzing or recommending 'improvements.' I tried Option 3 (the article is wrong or not up to date as far as the screens go. 'Office'' was listed as a single product, not its components.) Nor was 'Modify' an option. but 'Repair' was, and I chose that. Nothing seemed to happen., and I could still open Office products while it should have been running, so I don't think it did run. I probably won't receive the 'Privacy setting changed' for another few days, but fully expect it to continue.
