Restart Office to apply changes to your privacy settings - endless notices

. In Word >> File >> Account there is a section called Connected Services. And my personal Microsoft account was listed there. I removed it, and that solved the problem :-).

I also grew tired of this error constantly appearing in Outlook even after first start up of the machine in the morning.

The above instructions (removing personal account from Connected Services) also fixed it for me...

I am curious if you have Office installed on multiple devices? In my case I have an Android Tablet besides my Surface Pro tablet. This error for me started I believe when I made modifications to my privacy settings on my Android installed version of O365 that I share OneNote Notebooks between.

I seem to recall stumbling on a note where if you have mismatched privacy settings between devices this might cause this issue. Just haven't had time to compare between the systems yet. I have a life I would like to lead vs spending days troubleshooting WIN10 install/update issues which for me have become very prevalent.... :-) I cringe every time an update is forced upon me. 

I fix something, new update, problem back. Really annoying, especially with devices.

This has become my experience as well. I just auto-renewed a week or so ago, my OneNote files are no longer syncing well and complaining, My Gmail endless prompting for passwords began sometime ago, Unless I open my privacy settings wide, a bunch of functionality disappears and I have endless continuous prompts and issues. The Restart Office notice anytime I open 'any Office product continues'. With every update, my legacy MS system (Surface Pro 3 that is perfectly functional

• or was) continues to have more connectivity, HW driver or usability issues, some I have 'fixed' post update at least a half dozen times. I have lost my patience. 

The value of Windows and Office for me was it's openess and general support for connectivity with other chosen services. What is happening is exactly what the CEO said he would do. "We are no longer going to make it easy for competitors to work with our products". I couldn't believe it when I heard it. To me that is almost anti-trust and I heard no general market complaints about that position.

Microsoft 'wins' that round? Nope, I am actively working on a platform migration. I have been a loyal MS user since there was a Microsoft, but this continued behavior of feeling like they have the right to decide what I can and can't use on MY computer because I choose to use their OS or purposely undermine other product's ability to work is unconscionable. I for one am surprised the market in general is not in a total uproar over this and actively working on alternatives like I am, perhaps they are quietly.

The definite downside of 'subscription services or Cloud" and I still think a terrible model for an OS. MS has completely forgotten who they are and what has made them successful. Even Mr. Gates doesn't want to be a part of it anymore. That is like disowning your own child. Voting with our pocketbooks is our only recourse.

This is the last thing I wanted to spend my time and money on but MS has left me no choice as I see it. It is a principal and continued headaches I can no longer support. At least before I had control over when I could allow them to 'fix and update things' and selectively so it wasn't disruptive to getting things done, Now I can't even do that. To me this is completely unacceptable corporate behavior.

...and this right here is the most horrible decision for a monopoly company to make. The instant they revert settings the user has consciously made, grabbing private data in the process, is when people might just wake up from their slumber of stupid. And Office isn't even "free" software, which usually is the part of the equation that justifies an unashamed abuse of power.
