Despite having a good WiFi or Ethernet connection, regardless of which network I'm on, if I join a Microsoft Teams call, all network connectivity stops working and teams simultaneously reports poor call quality and no network connectivity. All this while on an active call which I can see and hear. Here's a full description of symptoms. Every time I connect to a Teams call: Incoming call quality is ok. I can hear and see others. Outgoing call quality is very poor. Others say my voice is breaking up. If I unmute and speak for more than a few seconds, I am booted from the call. If I stay muted I can stay on the call indefinitely. I can share my screen just fine, I don't get kicked from the call. Teams periodically puts up a warning symbol in the call controls reporting poor connectivity. Teams puts up a blue banner stating that I have been disconnected from the internet. (Intermittent) Teams puts up a big overlay on top of the whole app saying I have been disconnected The call continues though all of this, including voice and video. All other network connectivity is broken (e.g.: Browsers cannot load pages, network drives stop working) Text chat features work fine (but not during calls, where they fail to work like all other network activity) The instant the call ends, all the symptoms stop. I can access network resources again. My wifi connection is fine. I've tested using wired networking and encounter the exact same issue. I've also tried various audio devices and disconnecting all peripherals as longshot solutions. No dice. I don't have anything weird on my system as far as I am aware. Teams works fine on other machines but not on my primary laptop. This issue not only makes Microsoft Teams itself nearly unusable, it knocks my whole system offline for the duration of the call, which is incredibly frustrating. I'm booting into Windows 10 on a 2015 MacBook Pro 13". I have all the latest patches for everything. TEMPORY WORKARROUND!!Install WINpCAP or wireshark and your issue will be solved. It makes your NIC to accept all data... give me a thumb up if this worked for you Same problem here. Many months ago when I was working with Microsoft support on this issue, they had me run Wireshark to collect packets. I could never reproduce the issue for them when running Wireshark. I had a feeling that running the packet capture somehow was preventing the issue from happening. Now I know and can confirm this workaround does work. Do you have to be continuously capturing packets, once, or did you have to do something else to solve the problem? Yes I was capturing during the Teams meetings and didn't have any Ethernet drops. It was only when I was not capturing that I would experience the drops about 50% of the time.

Hello from Austria, also here: Lenovo T490S, USB-C Dock, 5 minutes 'til complete network-outage. Fully patched. On one machine, updating the bios and chipset drivers bricked the whole WIFI system, there were no more WIFI connections of any kind possible. Also a downgrade of bios failed. Leonov really did change the mainboard of the 8 weeks old machine. Crazy, isn't it? Hi there, I just had a session with a customer, experiencing the MS Teams network disconnect issue. Lenovo T490 with USB-C Dock 40AF, LAN cable connected to dock, WiFi disabled. All drivers, firmware and bios is up to date, according to Lenovo Vantage. Network stops consistently around 2 minutes into a MS Teams call. Always. Installing Wireshark / npcap and starting a capture keeps the meeting going, network stays up. That even works if you stop the capture during the meeting and restart it soon after. But that's a horrible workaround, I was surprised that the customer was happy to use it. Well, better than interrupted Teams calls.... The customer will try to use WiFi instead of the LAN cable, but I don't have confirmation if that worked, yet. Did anybody already talk to Lenovo about this? This is most likely not a Teams issue, but reminds me of an issue we had while I was still working at HP Server Support. Intel NICs stopped working in a similar fashion when put under specific loads. The checksum offload feature of the NIC or driver was stumbling over certain packets, which just froze the whole NIC. In the end, Intel provided a driver update. In our case I would expect Lenovo to work with Realteck to sort this out. So I wonder, did anybody get that started already? Cheers, Christian

Hallo Daniel, we have the USB-C Dock Gen 2 and I got the information, that the firmware of the dock isn't updated automatically with Thinkvantage or Systemupdate. You have to download and install the firmwareupdate manually. So I did this using this link: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/DS539092 Not sure, but the link you postet looks live a driver for the notebook. Maybe there is also some firmware. We will test it in the next few days and report back here, if it helps. Unfortunately installing Wireshark didn't help at all :-( Offtopic but maybe important: We bricked 2 Notebooks by installing all (Firmware)Updates with Thinkvantage this autumn. After the updates both devices where no longer able to establish a wifi connection. Lenovo had to change the whole motherboards (which takes several days despite the next business day onsite support). Obviously it was a problem with the sequence. They told me to first install all windows updates and only then Thinkvantage. Yesterday I was brave enough to try another attempt, this time the updates worked without calling 911 (bzw. 112 hier in Österreich :-)) All the best, William

This is most likely not a Teams issue, but reminds me of an issue we had while I was still working at HP Server Support.

Intel NICs stopped working in a similar fashion when put under specific loads. The checksum offload feature of the NIC or driver was stumbling over certain packets, which just froze the whole NIC. In the end, Intel provided a driver update.

In our case I would expect Lenovo to work with Realteck to sort this out.

So I wonder, did anybody get that started already?
