Since installing Catalina 10.15 and Office 365 16.30 (updates installed the same day (something I will not due again)) when I attempt to save a workbook that I have used for a couple of years, I receive the alert: 'Your changes could not be saved  to xxx.xlsx due to a sharing violation.  I then receive the alert The file format end extension of 646820000.mactf don't match.

I contacted the Answer Desk who say it is an Apple Product and Apple support said it is a Microsoft problem.

Any thoughts or suggestions will be appreciated.

I am getting this same error with excel version 16.36.20041300

This has been an on going issue since late 2019 with no resolve.

The events leading to this error

    • new excel file created locally on the desktop
    • then sent via email to another user who may or may not updated the file
    • then received it back via email and the issue began when trying to save and edit to the desktop of the original origin.

only work around is a reboot of the machine at the moment

side note: the computer has the latest version of osx as well.

Any additional input would be great one this!
