MAU still didn't work

Well it's now October, and 16.30 just arrived. The MAU still didn't work. I noticed that it's now combined with the update so didn't try to download the updated first this time. But symptoms are all the same - the updater recognized that I needed all applications and told me to install 16.30 and when I saw the progress bar, each package showed download progress but the overall download progress kept resetting each time to zero and the package didn't finish saving on my Mac. At the end I got the telltale message "One or more packages..." 

This is the problem that Microsoft doesn't want to fix because they don't have enough people reporting it or saying they have the problem. 

So I'm a 365 subscriber who pays money to have what Microsoft described as the package I was purchasing and they're not going to provide it.

I guess this is what happens when integrity is an option left up to the workers and not the leaders.

    Thanks for sharing this solution to us.

    @Michael, as we have already tried the new user profile method before, I am not sure if it will resolve the problem this time. However, it's good to give it a shot. Also, if it failed again, please provide the latest MAU log file to us. Much appreciate.

    Hi

    it did download and install the office  updates. This was done by launching MAU from MS Word.

    i have set MAU to automatically download  and install updates, bur as they are monthly i wont know if the fully automated mode works until then.

    i hope this clarifies my earlier post

    Thanks very much for the report.

    Just to be clear, after setting up a new user account, MAU ran an update correctly?

    You said, "The MAU 4.16 is downloading and updating office successfully. I will have to wait for next months updates to see if automated mode works." so I was left thinking if it worked why is he saying he'll have to wait until next months updates?

    Hi Alex,

    Rather than chat with M/soft I followed your advise and Apple's and created a new user account on the Imac.

    The MAU 4.16 is downloading and updating office successfully. I will have to wait for next months updates to see if automated mode works.

    This link is the steps to rename your current account - I wanted the new account to have my name , so I renamed mine to have  'Old' at the start eg OldSteve. Make sure you do account name, display name and user directory

    Then to 'duplicate' the user OldSteve to Steve do the following steps - this will migrate all the data including photos, music etc from OldSteve to Steve.

    Afterwards I had a small issue. The favourites in Finder for Documents and Desktop needed removing and re-adding - very easy.

    NB I have only just done this, so I am keeping the 'OldSteve' account for a week or so.  If I find other issues I will post them. So far everything seems to be fine after using the migration tool.

    Hi Steve,

    Much appreciate for your effort in this thread.

    Troubleshoot on a corrupted user profile might cause a long time and usually don't return a positive result.

    Personally, I would also suggest creating a new user profile to around this issue.

    However, please keep us posted when you receive any updates.
