When you install the program, it should offer you an opportunity to enter your key. If you have problems installing, you can have a Microsoft technician to help.

Yes, its best to uninstall the old version first.
I found if you have 2 running when you work, it still can open either of them - creating more work.
If laptop came with Office 365 on it you have to uninstall before trying to install office 2019 Plus
