Disk Utility warnings in OS X Mojave and OneDrive for mac

OneDrive for Mac (v 18.222.1104.0007) is causing error in OS X Disk Utility (OS X Mojave 10.14.2 and 10.14.1):

warning: inode_val: object (oid 0xcb5b5): invalid bsd_flags (0x10)

Found this being OneDrive by re-installing the operating system and also by converting 0xcb5b5 to decimal format and running " find / -inum 832949 " in terminal.

I also send a support ticket but those tips didn't work (see bellow):

-------------------- START OF SUPPORT ANSWER -----------------------

Dear Customer,

You are now in contact with the support team by e-mail.

Regarding your issue please verify the following information in the article to check if the issue is related to this:https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3125202/restrictions-and-limitations-when-you-sync-files-and-folders

After verifying the information above please continue to reset the OneDrive app:

1-Launch Activity Monitor & Kill OneDrive processes

2-Launch Keychain Access and delete OneDrive keys

3-End OneDrive processes and Keys

4-First, navigate to the OneDrive application. Then you Control-click the application. When you do that, you should see the following menu appear:

5-From that menu, select “Show Package Contents”. You will then see a list of folders and files within the OneDrive application. Note: don’t mess with things in here as it could break your application.

6-Within the “Contents” folder, scroll down to the “Resources” folder.

Search for: ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command

It’s not an application. It just a script that is run in the terminal. Note, when you run it, you may need to authenticate as an administrator.

To run the script, just double-click on it. It should launch Terminal and run through a variety of options. Once it has finished, you are done!

7-Once you have run the script (and already did the other 2 items earlier), you should be able to launch OneDrive as if it were a completely new installation. You should be prompted to enter your login information and start synchronizing.

------------------------- END OF SUPPORT MESSAGE --------------------------

Only thing happened after "clean install of OneDrive" was that the DiskUtility error is now this (the object value has changed):

warning: inode_val: object*(oid 0x1281e1**): invalid bsd_flags (0x10)*

Is this a known problem or something new?

Hi All,

Thanks for letting us know your situation and sharing your experience here. We totally understand your frustration for encountering this, we are always more than willing to help all users in this community.

We have discussed internally with higher level support resources on this issue. Disk Utility error warnings occur from Mac Disk Utilities and Terminal since both are Apple products, it is hard for us to get the source code for further investigation even though we would like to do. We also do not understand the logic it used to flag the OneDrive at first place. So we believe it is the best to reach out to Apple support first for this case.

From our side, a support ticket number is required for our product team to check more details if you still need our help. Once the ticket is created, please post back here as soon as you can. We will contact our related team again then.

We really appreciate your understanding.

    Hi All,

I would like to share our updates here to see whether this can benefit you about the issue:

As the issue is only reported in Mojave, and we can reproduce the issue by our side, we then start to think about this article referring to13 quick fixes to macOS Mojave problems. Based on our test, after running the CleanMyMac tool, the error related to OneDrive disappears. Please notice that the tool is free if we don't clean methods over 500 MB.

Therefore, this solution is worth to try. Please check whether this can work by your side as well. At least, this can be a workaround before the final fix released.

    Any updates will be appreciated.

In the meantime, we are reporting the issue, we will post back once we get any new updates.

    Hi JanveCI,

We are now ready to collect some information to report the issue.  To report the issue, can you help to provide us information below (Although we have got logs from other members as well, however, we need all these including tenant information to report the issue):

    1. Your tenant information. To protect your privacy, I have sent you a private message to collect them. Please access it via this link
    2. The log you got from run find / - inum. You can save in a text or Word document file and provide it in private message together.
    3. The screenshot of the error code you got from running first aid.

We appreciate your effort and time.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi,

I can confirm that on a clean install of Mac OS X Mojave 10.14.2 we can reproduce this problem as soon as OneDrive is installed and the affected objects in Disk Utility all relate to OneDrive items.

I hope it can be fixed soon as it is affecting all of our devices now.

    Thanks,

    Matt
