Disk Utility warnings in OS X Mojave and OneDrive for mac

OneDrive for Mac (v 18.222.1104.0007) is causing error in OS X Disk Utility (OS X Mojave 10.14.2 and 10.14.1):

warning: inode_val: object (oid 0xcb5b5): invalid bsd_flags (0x10)

Found this being OneDrive by re-installing the operating system and also by converting 0xcb5b5 to decimal format and running " find / -inum 832949 " in terminal.

I also send a support ticket but those tips didn't work (see bellow):

-------------------- START OF SUPPORT ANSWER -----------------------

Dear Customer,

You are now in contact with the support team by e-mail.

Regarding your issue please verify the following information in the article to check if the issue is related to this:https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3125202/restrictions-and-limitations-when-you-sync-files-and-folders

After verifying the information above please continue to reset the OneDrive app:

1-Launch Activity Monitor & Kill OneDrive processes

2-Launch Keychain Access and delete OneDrive keys

3-End OneDrive processes and Keys

4-First, navigate to the OneDrive application. Then you Control-click the application. When you do that, you should see the following menu appear:

5-From that menu, select “Show Package Contents”. You will then see a list of folders and files within the OneDrive application. Note: don’t mess with things in here as it could break your application.

6-Within the “Contents” folder, scroll down to the “Resources” folder.

Search for: ResetOneDriveAppStandalone.command

It’s not an application. It just a script that is run in the terminal. Note, when you run it, you may need to authenticate as an administrator.

To run the script, just double-click on it. It should launch Terminal and run through a variety of options. Once it has finished, you are done!

7-Once you have run the script (and already did the other 2 items earlier), you should be able to launch OneDrive as if it were a completely new installation. You should be prompted to enter your login information and start synchronizing.

------------------------- END OF SUPPORT MESSAGE --------------------------

Only thing happened after "clean install of OneDrive" was that the DiskUtility error is now this (the object value has changed):

warning: inode_val: object*(oid 0x1281e1**): invalid bsd_flags (0x10)*

Is this a known problem or something new?

Hi All,

Thanks for letting us know your situation and sharing your experience here. We totally understand your frustration for encountering this, we are always more than willing to help all users in this community.

We have discussed internally with higher level support resources on this issue. Disk Utility error warnings occur from Mac Disk Utilities and Terminal since both are Apple products, it is hard for us to get the source code for further investigation even though we would like to do. We also do not understand the logic it used to flag the OneDrive at first place. So we believe it is the best to reach out to Apple support first for this case.

From our side, a support ticket number is required for our product team to check more details if you still need our help. Once the ticket is created, please post back here as soon as you can. We will contact our related team again then.

We really appreciate your understanding.

Yoga

In my case the problem was on the snapshot created by TimeMachine, I have resolved this issue uninstalling onedrive, disabling the Time Machine automatic backup and once restarted the notebook deleting the time machine snapshots using the console.

at this point I have renebled the time machine

    Hi All,

As we still haven’t received any service request number from you, if you still have concern about the problem, we would suggest you click “More” within OneDrive app > send feedback to the related team directly to show more business impact.

    @Mullawoo,

Notebooks are synced within from OneNote but not OneDrive. Your issue is a little different from others. We would suggest you use the feedback tool in the upper-right corner of the OneNote app to send feedback directly.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Rena

    Hello,

My name is Shana, and I would like to apply for a service request, as I too, now have OneDrive as well as OneNote throwing up flags.  I have quite a bit of computer knowledge, and I've tried everything to repair the problem within the Mac ecosystem, by checking what was causing the flags, in terminal, as well as repairing permissions. It is not a permission problem.  Basically these two products you have put out have the wrong node attached to the file.  The problem is NOT the OneDrive app itself, but the OneDrive folders it creates.  Because OneNote syncs with these folders, it too inherits the wrong node number.  It is a problem with Microsoft, not Apple.  Every other cloud service under the sun on my computer doesn't cause these flags, so either you guys fix it, or I will have to cancel my subscription. The flag is causing havoc on my machine. It's slowing things down, and it is extremely annoying.  Please place my service request, and I expect to be given a solution in a timely manner, given the amount of time I have been dealing with this problem.  It is not right to do this to your loyal customers.

    Shana

    Hi Jose,

Thank you for posting the question here.

In fact, we have tried to consult this kind of Disk Utility warning problems with the related team. They prefer to handle the case from Apple side. Because the error code is from Mac Disk Utilities and Terminal, and there’s no issue in Office apps themselves while they are running. Furthermore, we can’t get Mac OS system product resource to investigate deeply through the issue from Mac Utility error code.

If you are the Office 365 Business customers (and non-premier customers), please help to create a support ticket via Office 365 admin Center > Support > New Service Request. Once the ticket is created, please post back here as soon as you can. We will try to communicate with the related team again with it.

The ticket can show the business impact in another way. Therefore, we will appreciate you can help us do that.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Rena

    Hi!

I'm facing the very same issue described above, but in my situation it corrupted the OS update both from 10.14.1 to 10.14.2 and also to 10.14.3.

The only chance i had to boot was using the Safe Mode, and then follow the indications in the first post, to remove the OneDrive folders (i had 2, work and personal), and also delete the OneDrive application.

After all of that, First Aid ran in Recovery Mode and fixed the volume.

So the question is when will Microsoft fix this issue...
