ERROR code: 0x80070185

When someone else in our OneDrive has downloaded files in the past, I used to be able to click on those same files and they would open without issue. Now, I get the above error code and have to continue to hit "try again." Does anyone have any idea as to why all of the sudden I'm having this problem? Thank you.

I solved the problem by uninstalling OneDrive and install it again. The was what worked for me, at the time.

Haven't seen the problem after that.

Hope my answer can help one or more...

The issue I had was somewhat different than the messages described in these discussion threads, but since I see the same solutions being unsuccessfully applied to the OneDrive problem.  In my case, all files on OneDrive were visible.

When attempting to open any Office files (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio) from my primary laptop computer,  the application would start, the file attempted to load or download, then....... nothing.  The app launch ended.  Office files could not be opened from within the app, file explorer or anywhere.  I could only access the files using the web interface or from the OneDrive app on my iPhone.

I attempted all the solutions listed here; checked permissions, setting trusted locations, deleting office cache, surface scans, resetting OneDrive, and re-installing OneDrive. None of these solutions resolved the issues.

The issues was finally resolved by creating a new user profile on my computer.  Once I signed on with the new profile, OneDrive started working again.

    Hope this helps!

We get error 0x80070185 across our entire organisation. New user profiles for 300 staff is not really feasible. Nothing fixes it, even running insider versions of OneDrive, Office 365 Click to Run and fully updated Windows 10. Microsoft support were incredibly painful to work with and did not resolve the problem. In fact they would simply do remote sessions and perform the exact same troubleshooting steps each day, until I got fed up.

The issue is specifically with SharePoint Online synced libraries and on-demand files enabled. This feature is a must, so turning off is not an option.

I do suspect it may be related to libraries over the 5000 list view threshold and wonder if anyone else can correlate this?

This problem just disappeard for my client, no changes to their setup or in O365. I suspect it's some transient issue in SPO. I occasionally get the same issue in our own tenant but it's not consistent or reliably reproducable.
